Amnesty International is accepting applications for scholarships to fund internships or service projects that
address human rights. The program helps to provide students the opportunity to design and conduct human
rights projects in the US or abroad. The deadline for applications is February 17, 2004.

In order to be eligible for an ASA Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
o Must be of Armenian descent.
o Must be enrolled as a full-time student and have completed one full year of academics at a four-year
accredited U.S. college by June of 2006 OR must be enrolled in a two-year college and are transferring
to a four-year college or university as a full time student in the Fall of 2006.
o Must be a U.S. citizen OR must possess appropriate Visa status in order to study in the U.S.

The AXA Achievement sm Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report provides $670,000 in
annual scholarships to young people throughout the nation.
State Winners
Fifty-two winners, one from each state, the District of Colombia and Puerto Rico, are selected by our nonprofit
partner, Scholarship America, to receive one-time scholarship awards of $10,000 each.
National Winners
From the pool of 52 state winners, ten are selected as national winners and earn an additional one-time
scholarship of $15,000. This brings the top AXA Achievers total scholarship awards to $25,000 each. These top
ten also receive a laptop computer and the offer of an internship with AXA.
Our scholarships winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and economically diverse, but they
share these qualities:
o Ambition and drive
o Determination to set and reach goals
o Respect for self, family and community
o Ability to succeed in college
Some of the remarkable accomplishments of our AXA Achievers include: setting up a food bank in their
community; designing a curriculum to get kids interested in science; founding a nonprofit organization for
young people that encourages community service and civic involvement.
