The AAUW Educational Foundation awards fellowships in categories to women who are citizens or permanent
residents of the US and who have achieved high standards of academic excellence and show promise of
distinction in their respective fields.

To be eligible for any AFSA Scholarship Program:
Students must be claimed as dependent on the most recent IRS tax form by a US government Foreign Service
employee (active, retired with pension, deceased or separated) who has served or is serving at least a year
abroad with a foreign affairs agency as defined by the Foreign Service Act of 1980 (Department of State,
USAID, USIA, IBB, Commerce Service or Foreign Agriculture Service).
For an AFSA Financial Aid Scholarship, a student must:
A. Attend or will be attending full-time (12 hours or more) as an undergraduate at an U.S. college, university,
community college, post-secondary, art school, conservatory, etc. One year study abroad under the auspice of
the student's American college or university is allowed.
B. Maintain a satisfactory academic record (2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or C average).
C. Complete his/her undergraduate degree in four years.
D. Demonstrate financial need.
For an AFSA Merit Awards (Academic and/or Art), a student must:
A. Have at least one parent a member of AFSA or AAFSW.
B. Be a high school senior.
C. Maintain a satisfactory academic record (2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or C average).
