Eligibility:
Be a resident of the States of New Hampshire or Maine*
Be a currently enrolled degree candidate with a safety, health or environmental studies related major.
Possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5, and 3.0 in a safety or health related major.
Filing of Application materials:
Completed application by April 1
Official transcript from College, minimum of three letters of recommendation from college instructors,
administrators, staff support services, and/or other professional references.
The selection of the recipient(s) will be made by the Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. Recipient(s) and
funds will be presented to the recipient(s) at the Council Office in Westbrook, Maine or Concord, New
Hampshire. Non-recipients will also be notified.
*Residence or residency shall mean a person’s principal place of abode or domicile. Toe be eligible, a resident
of either state may attend college or university either inside or outside Maine or New Hampshire.

Statement of Purpose: In recognition of the recreational and economic value of the Sebago Lake Watershed to
the surrounding area, it is the aim of the Sebago Lake Anglers to nurture and honor the resource by encouraging
further education in a field that would promote the reservation of the resource. To that end, the Sebago Lake
Anglers propose to offer a small scholarship for the pursuit of college level education in Marine Biology or a
related field. The scholarship would be awarded on an annual basis to a qualified, graduating senior of one of
the area high schools surrounding Sebago Lake. These schools, all in school districts bordering Sebago Lake,
would include Bonny Eagle High School (SAD#6 Buxton, Limington, Standish, Steep Falls, and Sebago Lake);
Lake Region High School (SAD#61 Bridgton, Casco, Naples, Sebago) and Windham High School. Since the
Town of Raymond does not possess a high school, it would not participate in the program. In the event that a
number of applicants qualify, each year's recipient would be selected from the schools on a rotating basis, for
example, one from SAD#6 the first year, one from SAD#61 the following year, and Windham the third year.
Qualifications for Consideration: To qualify for the Sebago Lake Anglers Scholarship, a graduating senior
would have been accepted for study in an academically accredited undergraduate program in the study of
Marine/Environmental Biology, or a related field of higher learning Awarding the Scholarship: A scholarship
committee would be formed by members of the Anglers and would review a list of those candidates presented
by the guidance directors of the area high schools. The recipient's name would be announced at the
commencement or award presentation of his or her high school. The actual scholarship would not be paid until
the committee has received a grade report for the student's first semester and would be paid directly to the
college that the recipient is attending. The Scholarship: The scholarship fund will be administered by the
Scholarship Committee. The annual dollar amount of the scholarship would not exceed $500.
• Sylvan B. Phillips Trust Fund
Who is eligible to apply? This fund provides financial assistance to aid "needy and worthy young men" living in
Portland, Maine in obtaining a college education, particularly in full or in part of their tuition and/or rent.
Scholarship amount: Varies. This year, up to $10,520 will be distributed.
How are the scholarships awarded? Discretion of the Trustees

Who is eligible to apply? The scholarship will be awarded to dependents of employees of Wasco who are
graduating from a Maine high school and have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning.
