o Career Advancement Scholarship –<br />

Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? This scholarship is <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>to</strong> women 30 years and older for job-related<br />

continuing education. Applicants must be Maine residents.<br />

Scholarship amount: $1,200<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? <strong>The</strong> recipients <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above three scholarship will be submitted<br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> BPW State Federation for consideration for $1,200 <strong>scholarships</strong> in each category. Applicants<br />

should be sure <strong>to</strong> state <strong>the</strong>ir financial needs.<br />

Application process: Applications may be obtained at <strong>the</strong> financial aid <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> most Maine<br />

colleges. Applications for <strong>the</strong> foregoing three <strong>scholarships</strong> may be obtained as listed under each<br />

scholarship or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope <strong>to</strong>:<br />

o Rachel E. Lemieux Yough Scholarship -<br />

Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? This scholarship is <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>to</strong> girls who are seniors and will be attending<br />

college in <strong>the</strong> fall. Applicants must be Maine residents.<br />

Scholarship amount: <strong>The</strong> scholarship amount is up <strong>to</strong> $1,200.<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Applicants should be sure <strong>to</strong> state <strong>the</strong>ir financial needs.<br />

• Brunswick Area Student Aid Fund<br />

Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? Maine graduates <strong>of</strong>: Brunswick High School, Mt. Ararat High School, or a resident <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Brunswick area who could <strong>have</strong> attended ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> two high schools listed, but instead chose a private<br />

high school.<br />

Scholarship amount: $800 <strong>to</strong> $1,500<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Based on need, determined by a formula, which uses financial information<br />

listed on <strong>the</strong> student's FAFSA (a copy must be filed with one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> guidance <strong>of</strong>fices by March 15th).<br />

Scholarship is renewable by reapplying (allowed two years <strong>of</strong> receiving BASAF award).<br />

• Children and Youth Scholarship<br />

Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? Any Maine resident who is a high school senior or higher.<br />

Scholarship amount: $500<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement and financial<br />

need. <strong>The</strong> state is divided in<strong>to</strong> seven districts.<br />

Application process: Applications are available from high school guidance <strong>of</strong>fices and <strong>the</strong> American Legion,<br />
