Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? <strong>The</strong> Rumford Hospital and Auxiliary Health Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Student Loan Program is<br />

open <strong>to</strong> students living in <strong>the</strong> area served by RH who <strong>have</strong> <strong>been</strong> accepted in<strong>to</strong> programs <strong>of</strong> study in <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>following</strong> fields: Nursing; Radiology, Labora<strong>to</strong>ry and Physical <strong>The</strong>rapy.<br />

Scholarship amount: Up <strong>to</strong> $8,000.<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Awards are based on academics as well as <strong>the</strong> future needs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rumford<br />

Hospital, upon pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> satisfac<strong>to</strong>ry completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first semester for each year. This student loan is<br />

au<strong>to</strong>matically renewed with pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> successful completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first semester.<br />

When can I apply for this scholarship? On or after March 1 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> award year.<br />

What is <strong>the</strong> application deadline? Completed application must be received by May 1 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> award year.<br />

• Safety & Health Council <strong>of</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>rn New England – Past Presidents Scholarship<br />

<strong>The</strong> Safety & Health Council will award a $500. or greater scholarship(s) annually <strong>to</strong> New Hampshire or<br />

Maine resident(s)* majoring in a safety or health program. <strong>The</strong> scholarship(s) will be awarded upon<br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. <strong>The</strong> scholarship(s) will be open <strong>to</strong> students<br />

who <strong>have</strong> completed <strong>the</strong>ir sophomore year and <strong>the</strong> award will be based upon scholastic achievement and<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional potential.<br />

Eligibility:<br />

Be a resident <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> States <strong>of</strong> New Hampshire or Maine*<br />

Be a currently enrolled degree candidate with a safety, health or environmental studies related major.<br />

Possess a cumulative grade point average <strong>of</strong> at least 2.5, and 3.0 in a safety or health related major.<br />

Filing <strong>of</strong> Application materials:<br />

Completed application by April 1, 2005<br />

Minimum <strong>of</strong> three letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation from college instruc<strong>to</strong>rs, administra<strong>to</strong>rs, staff support services,<br />

and/or o<strong>the</strong>r pr<strong>of</strong>essional references.<br />

<strong>The</strong> selection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> recipient(s) will be made by <strong>the</strong> Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. Recipient(s) and<br />

funds will be presented <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> recipient(s) at <strong>the</strong> Council Office in Westbrook, Maine or Concord, New<br />

Hampshire. Non-recipients will also be notified.<br />

*Residence or residency shall mean a person’s principal place <strong>of</strong> abode or domicile. Toe be eligible, a resident<br />

<strong>of</strong> ei<strong>the</strong>r state may attend college or university ei<strong>the</strong>r inside or outside Maine or New Hampshire.<br />

• Society <strong>of</strong> Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants Scholarship<br />

<strong>The</strong> Society <strong>of</strong> Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants grants <strong>scholarships</strong> each year <strong>to</strong> second year PA<br />

students who plan <strong>to</strong> pursue a career in emergency medicine. This year, SEMPA will award one-$1,000<br />

scholarship and four-$500 <strong>scholarships</strong>. Applicants must be current members in good standing and be enrolled<br />

in an approved Physician Assistant Program. Completed applications must be received by December 31.<br />

Awards are announced in February.<br />

Applicants must meet one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>following</strong> criteria:
