Assistants, Dentists and Dental Hygienists, Mental Health Professionals, including Clinical Psychologists,
Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Psychiatric Nurse Specialists.

NSDAR awards the following scholarships through the DAR Scholarship Committee. All applicants must be
citizens of the US and must attend, or plan to attend, an accredited college or university in the US.
Occupational Therapy Scholarship – a one time $500 scholarship for students who are in financial need and
have been accepted or are attending an accredited school of Occupational Therapy including art, music or
physical therapy . Deadline February 15 th or August 15 th .
Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship – a $2,000 scholarship awarded for up to four years to well qualified,
deserving sons and daughters of members of the NSDAR for four years of college. Outstanding recipients will
be considered for an additional period of up to four years of study. DAR Member Number of mother must be on
the Application. Deadline – February 15 th .

• Portland Water District – Joseph A. DiPietro Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:
o Students must demonstrate financial need.
o Students must live in PWD’s service territory (Portland,South Portland, Westbrook, Windham, Gorham,
Raymond, Cumberland, Falmouth, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth).
o Students must have a declared major that is related to PWD’s mission to protect public health and the
environment (e.g., environmental studies, sciences, engineering, medical, dental, trades, public
administration).
o Preference will be given to a student that attends or plans to attend an accredited college or university
(Husson College, University of Southern Maine, University of New England, Southern Maine
Community College) in PWD’s member communities.
o Scholarship will be given on a one-time basis; not "renewable."
o Preference will be given to students who have an affiliation with the Portland Water District.
o Preference will be given to students that demonstrate educational excellence through GPA, SAT,
academic honors, etc.
o Preference will be given to students that demonstrate a commitment to the community through
involvement.
Deadlines: The $1,500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student. The scholarship
committee, a sub committee of the Board of Trustees, will review applications in the summer and award the
scholarship in September.
