Healthcare Scholarships:<br />

o Sandie Belden Memorial Scholarship: Awarded <strong>to</strong> a Winthrop High School student who is pursuing a<br />

career in health care. Available annually.<br />

o MaineGeneral Health Scholarship: Awarded <strong>to</strong> students or employees within MaineGeneral Health who<br />

are pursuing healthcare careers. Available annually.<br />

o MaineGeneral Medical Center Augusta Auxiliary Scholarship: Preference is given <strong>to</strong> displaced<br />

homemakers who are pursuing careers in healthcare. O<strong>the</strong>r students may be considered. Available<br />

annually.<br />

o MaineGeneral Medical Center Waterville Auxiliary Scholarship: Preference is given <strong>to</strong> students in <strong>the</strong><br />

greater Waterville area who are pursuing healthcare careers. Available annually.<br />

o MaineGeneral Medical Center Scholarship Endowment: Awarded <strong>to</strong> medical center employees or <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

family members who are pursuing educational opportunities in pr<strong>of</strong>essions in which <strong>the</strong> MaineGeneral<br />

Medical Center administration determines <strong>the</strong>re is a demonstrated need. Available annually.<br />

o Pauline N. Young Memorial Scholarship: This is available only as a supplement <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> MaineGeneral<br />

This scholarship <strong>of</strong>fered by <strong>the</strong> New Hampshire Chapter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> APTA. Qualified students are <strong>of</strong>fered a $1,000<br />

stipend. Applicants must be students entering <strong>the</strong> final year <strong>of</strong> an accredited Physical <strong>The</strong>rapy program. and a<br />

New Hampshire resident. Selections are based on financial need and overall college academic standing.<br />

Applications accepted from January <strong>to</strong> June 30, payment and <strong>the</strong> award presentation is in November.<br />

• Minority Scholarship Award for Academic Excellence<br />

Description <strong>of</strong> Award: This is an annual award <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>to</strong> minority Physical <strong>The</strong>rapy students, minimum <strong>of</strong><br />

$1,500. Definition <strong>of</strong> “Minority” refers <strong>to</strong> U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents who are members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>following</strong> racial/ethnic minority groups: African-American or Black, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian or<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino.<br />
