Health Pr<strong>of</strong>essions<br />

Applicants must: be an American Indian or Alaska Native (Federally recognized only and applicant must be a<br />

member <strong>of</strong> his/her tribe); be a high school graduate or equivalent; and be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in<br />

a full or part-time study program leading <strong>to</strong> a degree in a health related pr<strong>of</strong>essions school within <strong>the</strong> United<br />

States for one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> health career priority categories listed above.<br />

Documentation must be received from part-time applicants that <strong>the</strong>ir school and course curriculum allows less<br />

than full-time status.<br />

Students preparing for careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, physical or occupational <strong>the</strong>rapy, and<br />

medical technologies are eligible <strong>to</strong> apply. A student must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen, enrolled full time in a<br />

school accredited in <strong>the</strong> field involved and application must be for at least <strong>the</strong> third year <strong>of</strong> college. R.N.<br />

students must <strong>have</strong> completed <strong>the</strong> first year <strong>of</strong> schooling. Pre-med students are not eligible <strong>to</strong> apply. For those<br />

students seeking degrees <strong>of</strong> M.D. or D.D.S. application must be for at least <strong>the</strong> second year <strong>of</strong> medical or dental<br />

school.<br />

• Janet Davidson Hammond Medical Scholarship <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Molly Ockett Chapter, DAR<br />

This fund supports graduating seniors from Fryeburg Academy, Lake Region High School, and Oxford Hills<br />

Comprehensive High School who plan <strong>to</strong> pursue studies in a medical field at a two-year community college or a<br />

four-year college or university. Preference will be given <strong>to</strong> applicants majoring in nursing or physical <strong>the</strong>rapy.<br />

<strong>The</strong> applicant must be a Massachusetts resident enrolled in an accredited occupational <strong>the</strong>rapy educational<br />

program in New England at <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional or associate's degree level. He or she must be a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Massachusetts Association for Occupational <strong>The</strong>rapy (MAOT) and <strong>the</strong> American Occupational <strong>The</strong>rapy<br />

Association (AOTA), demonstrate a need for financial assistance, and <strong>have</strong> a sustained record <strong>of</strong> outstanding<br />

scholastic achievement.<br />
