The Hartley Lord Scholarship ($1,000). These annual awards are intended to help with the financial obligation
of attending post secondary education for students interested in pursuing a course of study in a field that focuses
on the well being and needs of the senior members of our society. Such a field of study includes, but is not
necessarily limited to, community service, eldercare, nursing or medicine.
Any accredited post secondary degree or certificate program is eligible for consideration as long as it has some
relationship to the welfare of older citizens. Applications should be submitted no later than May 1. While
applicants are free to submit any material they wish in support of their application, the only requirement is the
completed application and a letter of recommendation. Notification will be made in early June.

Graduate and Undergraduate Criteria: The Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey (HRET), an
affiliate of the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA), believes it is particularly important to encourage and
enable New Jersey residents to pursue health careers and, therefore, has established a scholarship fund to assist
in meeting this need. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.
In recognition of the rising cost of higher education, and in cooperation with HRET, the New Jersey Hospital
Association will provide grants for financial support (minimum of $2,000 each to one or more applicants) to
selected students who are enrolled in the following programs:
Graduate study in hospital or healthcare administration, public administration, graduate study in Nursing or
other Allied Health Profession; Junior or senior year undergraduate study in hospital or healthcare
administration, public administration, Nursing or other Allied Health Profession.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
o Be a New Jersey resident;
o Have been accepted in a graduate or undergraduate (junior and seniors only) program in hospital or
healthcare administration or a graduate or undergraduate (junior or senior only) program in Nursing or
Allied Health Profession;
o Have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4 point system or equivalent);
o Demonstration of financial need with a FAFSA document and financial aid application and/or federal
tax return from the previous year.

Scholarship(s) Awarded: September.

Student must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a baccalaureate or higher degree health professions education
program in a school that is affiliated, through a participating professional association, with the Federation of
Associations of Schools of Health Professions. Deadline is February 1 st – student entries must be submitted to
faculty sponsors of designated official(s) at participating schools.
