<strong>The</strong> $1,500 scholarship will be awarded annually <strong>to</strong> a deserving student. <strong>The</strong> scholarship committee, a<br />

sub committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees, will review applications in <strong>the</strong> summer and award <strong>the</strong><br />

scholarship in September. To apply, students must complete <strong>the</strong> application by May 15.<br />

• Robert A. Mulliken Environmental Scholarship Trust Fund<br />

<strong>The</strong> Robert A. Mulliken Environmental Scholarship Trust Fund was established in 2002 as a certified, nonpr<strong>of</strong>it<br />

charitable foundation in memory <strong>of</strong> Robert Muliken, a resident <strong>of</strong> Kings<strong>to</strong>n. Onescholarship award will<br />

be made <strong>to</strong> a resident <strong>of</strong> Kings<strong>to</strong>n, Massachusetts, who plans <strong>to</strong> pursue study in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> Conversation,<br />

Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Energy, or similarly named programs at <strong>the</strong> undergraduate or<br />

graduate level. <strong>The</strong> scholarship will be disbursed at <strong>the</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> winner’s first semester directly <strong>to</strong> his<br />

or her qualifying school. Application Deadline is April 8 and must be postmarked by this date.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Winning applicant must show a firm commitment and convincing interest in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> study by way <strong>of</strong> a<br />

brief essay. Prior related educational and field experience in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> study are also considered in <strong>the</strong><br />

awarding process; as is financial need.<br />

Scholarships will be awarded <strong>to</strong> Maine high school graduates who are college juniors or seniors majoring in<br />

outdoor writing or a related environmental field; or <strong>to</strong> accredited Maine colleges or universities with programs<br />

in this area. Established in 1995 in memory <strong>of</strong> R .V. "Gadabout" Gaddis, a writer from Maine, this fund<br />

provides financial support for <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> outdoor writing or a related environmental field.<br />

• Safety & Health Council <strong>of</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>rn New England – Past Presidents Scholarship<br />

<strong>The</strong> Safety & Health Council will award a $500. or greater scholarship(s) annually <strong>to</strong> New Hampshire or<br />

Maine resident(s)* majoring in a safety or health program. <strong>The</strong> scholarship(s) will be awarded upon<br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. <strong>The</strong> scholarship(s) will be open <strong>to</strong> students<br />

who <strong>have</strong> completed <strong>the</strong>ir sophomore year and <strong>the</strong> award will be based upon scholastic achievement and<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional potential.<br />

Eligibility:<br />

Be a resident <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> States <strong>of</strong> New Hampshire or Maine*<br />

Be a currently enrolled degree candidate with a safety, health or environmental studies related major.<br />

Possess a cumulative grade point average <strong>of</strong> at least 2.5, and 3.0 in a safety or health related major.<br />

Filing <strong>of</strong> Application materials:<br />

Completed application by April 1, 2005<br />

Official transcript from College<br />

Minimum <strong>of</strong> three letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation from college instruc<strong>to</strong>rs, administra<strong>to</strong>rs, staff support services,<br />

and/or o<strong>the</strong>r pr<strong>of</strong>essional references.<br />

<strong>The</strong> selection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> recipient(s) will be made by <strong>the</strong> Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. Recipient(s) and<br />

funds will be presented <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> recipient(s) at <strong>the</strong> Council Office in Westbrook, Maine or Concord, New<br />

Hampshire. Non-recipients will also be notified.
