The $1,500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student. The scholarship committee, a
sub committee of the Board of Trustees, will review applications in the summer and award the
scholarship in September. To apply, students must complete the application by May 15.

• Robert A. Mulliken Environmental Scholarship Trust Fund
The Robert A. Mulliken Environmental Scholarship Trust Fund was established in 2002 as a certified, nonprofit
charitable foundation in memory of Robert Muliken, a resident of Kingston. Onescholarship award will
be made to a resident of Kingston, Massachusetts, who plans to pursue study in the areas of Conversation,
Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Energy, or similarly named programs at the undergraduate or
graduate level. The scholarship will be disbursed at the completion of the winner’s first semester directly to his
or her qualifying school. Application Deadline is April 8 and must be postmarked by this date.
The Winning applicant must show a firm commitment and convincing interest in the areas of study by way of a
brief essay. Prior related educational and field experience in the areas of study are also considered in the
awarding process; as is financial need.

Scholarships will be awarded to Maine high school graduates who are college juniors or seniors majoring in
outdoor writing or a related environmental field; or to accredited Maine colleges or universities with programs
in this area. Established in 1995 in memory of R .V. "Gadabout" Gaddis, a writer from Maine, this fund
provides financial support for the study of outdoor writing or a related environmental field.
• Safety & Health Council of Northern New England – Past Presidents Scholarship
The Safety & Health Council will award a $500. or greater scholarship(s) annually to New Hampshire or
Maine resident(s)* majoring in a safety or health program. The scholarship(s) will be awarded upon
recommendation of the Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. The scholarship(s) will be open to students
who have completed their sophomore year and the award will be based upon scholastic achievement and
professional potential.
Eligibility:
Be a resident of the States of New Hampshire or Maine*
Be a currently enrolled degree candidate with a safety, health or environmental studies related major.
Possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5, and 3.0 in a safety or health related major.
Filing of Application materials:
Completed application by April 1, 2005
Official transcript from College
Minimum of three letters of recommendation from college instructors, administrators, staff support services,
and/or other professional references.
The selection of the recipient(s) will be made by the Past Presidents Scholarship Committee. Recipient(s) and
funds will be presented to the recipient(s) at the Council Office in Westbrook, Maine or Concord, New
Hampshire. Non-recipients will also be notified.
