To encourage entry of Hispanics into oral health careers applications of 2006-2007 programs, applications
available January, 2006.
o HDA General Fund Scholarships for Hispanic men and women. Applicants, who must have been
accepted into an accredited MPH or DPH program, are judged on demonstration of Commitment to
improving health in the Hispanic community, Scholastic Achievement, Community Service, and
Leadership Skill.
o Procter & Gamble Oral Care & HDA Foundation
ENTRY LEVEL, ALL DENTAL PROFESSIONS, NATIONWIDE. Supported by P&G, this program
awards numerous scholarships in amount of $1,000 and $500. Applicants, who must have been accepted
into an accredited dental, dental hygiene, dental assisting or dental technician program, are judged on
demonstration of Scholastic Achievement, Community Service, Leadership Skill, Commitment to
improving health in the Hispanic community.

The applicant must:
• be enrolled in an accredited certificate or associate-level dental hygiene program in the United States;
• have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum prior to receiving the award -
students entering their first year of dental hygiene school are not eligible, but students may be in the
process of completing their first year when application is submitted;
• have a minimum dental hygiene grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) (cumulative GPA of
all courses required in her or his undergraduate dental hygiene curriculum);
• be a full-time student during the academic year for which he or she is applying (e.g., fall 2006 to spring
2007); and
• be an active member of the Student American Dental Hygienists' Association (SADHA) or the
American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA); and
• be able (through his or her institution's financial aid office) to document a financial need of at least
$1,500 by using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Applicants not selected for this scholarship remain eligible for the ADHA Institute General Scholarships
and for the following General Named Scholarships, named below, which are funded by private parties and
whose recipients are chosen from applicants who do not receive a specific named scholarship:
o Rebekah Fisk Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding applicant at the certificate,
associate, or baccalaureate degree level.
o Wilma E. Motley Scholarship: Personally endowed by this generous benefactor, the scholarship is
awarded to an eligible applicant at the baccalaureate degree level who has achieved a 4.0 grade point
average in dental hygiene.

and Dental Hygienists; and Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Psychiatric Nurse Specialists, and
Marriage and Family Therapists.
