The Founders’ Awards program is a loan program with a forgiveness option for doctors who establish their primary practice in
southern Arizona. Recipients are eligible for student loans at rates comparable to other student loan programs – and are not expected
to begin paying the loan back until they have completed ALL formal medical education, including internships and residencies. The
loan is interest free during the formal in-school period, internship and residency.

All medical students who have completed at least one year of medical school are eligible to apply. Preference is
given to residents of Connecticut. Recipients who establish family practices are not required to repay student loan.
