Graduate and Undergraduate Criteria<br />

<strong>The</strong> Health Research and Educational Trust <strong>of</strong> New Jersey (HRET), an affiliate <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> New Jersey Hospital Association<br />

(NJHA), believes it is particularly important <strong>to</strong> encourage and enable New Jersey residents <strong>to</strong> pursue health careers and,<br />

<strong>the</strong>refore, has established a scholarship fund <strong>to</strong> assist in meeting this need. Minorities and women are encouraged <strong>to</strong> apply.<br />

In recognition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> rising cost <strong>of</strong> higher education, and in cooperation with HRET, <strong>the</strong> New Jersey Hospital Association<br />

will provide grants for financial support (minimum <strong>of</strong> $2,000 each <strong>to</strong> one or more applicants) <strong>to</strong> selected students who are<br />

enrolled in <strong>the</strong> <strong>following</strong> programs:<br />

Graduate study in hospital or healthcare administration, public administration, graduate study in Nursing or o<strong>the</strong>r Allied<br />

Health Pr<strong>of</strong>ession;<br />

Junior or senior year undergraduate study in hospital or healthcare administration, public administration, Nursing or o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Allied Health Pr<strong>of</strong>ession.<br />

Applicants must meet <strong>the</strong> <strong>following</strong> eligibility criteria:<br />

Be a New Jersey resident;<br />

Have <strong>been</strong> accepted in a graduate or undergraduate (junior and seniors only) program in hospital or healthcare administration<br />

or a graduate or undergraduate (junior or senior only) program in Nursing or Allied Health Pr<strong>of</strong>ession;<br />

Have maintained a grade point average <strong>of</strong> at least 3.0 (on a 4 point system or equivalent);<br />

Demonstration <strong>of</strong> financial need with a FAFSA document and financial aid application and/or federal tax return from <strong>the</strong><br />

previous year.<br />

Deadline: Applications must be received by July 28, 2006<br />

<strong>The</strong> New Jersey Osteopathic Education Foundation and <strong>the</strong> Auxiliary <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> New Jersey Association <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic<br />

Physicians and Surgeons has established a scholarship program. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need,<br />

osteopathic motivation and pr<strong>of</strong>essional promise. New Jersey residents accepted for <strong>the</strong>ir first year <strong>of</strong> osteopathic study are<br />

eligible. Recipients must agree <strong>to</strong> become a student member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> New Jersey Association <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic Physicians and<br />

Surgeons and <strong>the</strong> American Osteopathic Association and continue <strong>the</strong>se memberships while practicing in New Jersey. Upon<br />

completion <strong>of</strong> an AOA approved internship/residency recipients must also agree <strong>to</strong> return <strong>to</strong> New Jersey <strong>to</strong> practice. <strong>The</strong><br />

deadline is April 30. <strong>The</strong> amount is between $5,000-$10,000.<br />

Margaret Yardley Fellowship<br />

A $1000 fellowship is made available each year <strong>to</strong> a post-graduate woman student who is a resident <strong>of</strong> New Jersey, <strong>to</strong> be<br />

used <strong>to</strong>ward payment <strong>of</strong> her tuition only. <strong>The</strong> committee considers <strong>the</strong> applicant's scholastic achievement, career service<br />

potential, and finanical need. Applications are available until February 1. Application requests must be accompanied by a<br />

stamped, self-addressed envelope.<br />

<strong>The</strong> completed application is due March 1.
