Edwina Foye Award for Outstanding Graduate Student<br />

<strong>The</strong> Edwina Foye scholarship was established in 1985 by colleagues, friends, and family <strong>to</strong> honor <strong>the</strong> memory <strong>of</strong> Edwina<br />

Foye, RN, a nurse who dedicated twenty-five years <strong>of</strong> service <strong>to</strong> Portsmouth Hospital (1952-1978). This scholarship is<br />

awarded at <strong>the</strong> Foundation's Annual Meeting in April <strong>to</strong> a graduate student who is a resident in one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> nine <strong>to</strong>wns in <strong>the</strong><br />

Foundation area. <strong>The</strong> individual selected for this award must be pursuing a career in health and demonstrate outstanding<br />

academic achievement and personal accomplishments.<br />

This scholarship is available on a competitive basis <strong>to</strong> those students who qualify academically, are pursuing a health-related<br />

field <strong>of</strong> study, and <strong>have</strong> <strong>been</strong> and continue <strong>to</strong> be residents for a minimum <strong>of</strong> two years <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> nine Seacoast<br />

communities in <strong>the</strong> foundation’s service area (Portsmouth, Newing<strong>to</strong>n, New Castle, Greenland, Rye and No. Hamp<strong>to</strong>n, New<br />

Hampshire; and Kittery, Eliot and York, Maine). Awards are based primarily on academic achievement and potential as<br />

demonstrated by test scores, rank in class or grade point averages, difficulty <strong>of</strong> course selection, and commitment <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> field<br />

<strong>of</strong> health. Financial need is not a consideration.<br />

• Kenneth and Bessie Ladeau Trust Fund (10/06)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Kenneth and Bessie Ladeau Trust Fund is a scholarship fund for eligible medical students. Applicants must <strong>have</strong><br />

completed <strong>the</strong>ir first year <strong>of</strong> medical school, be in good academic standing, and be <strong>of</strong> high moral character. Awards usually<br />

average $300 <strong>to</strong> $500 per year. Preference is given <strong>to</strong> residents <strong>of</strong> New Hampshire and Vermont. For more information write<br />
