Edwina Foye Award for Outstanding Graduate Student The Edwina Foye scholarship was established in 1985 by colleagues, friends, and family to honor the memory of Edwina Foye, RN, a nurse who dedicated twenty-five years of service to Portsmouth Hospital (1952-1978). This scholarship is awarded at the Foundation's Annual Meeting in April to a graduate student who is a resident in one of the nine towns in the Foundation area. The individual selected for this award must be pursuing a career in health and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and personal accomplishments. This scholarship is available on a competitive basis to those students who qualify academically, are pursuing a health-related field of study, and have been and continue to be residents for a minimum of two years of one of the nine Seacoast communities in the foundation’s service area (Portsmouth, Newington, New Castle, Greenland, Rye and No. Hampton, New Hampshire; and Kittery, Eliot and York, Maine). Awards are based primarily on academic achievement and potential as demonstrated by test scores, rank in class or grade point averages, difficulty of course selection, and commitment to the field of health. Financial need is not a consideration. • Kenneth and Bessie Ladeau Trust Fund (10/06) The Kenneth and Bessie Ladeau Trust Fund is a scholarship fund for eligible medical students. Applicants must have completed their first year of medical school, be in good academic standing, and be of high moral character. Awards usually average $300 to $500 per year.
