Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? Applicants must be a dependent <strong>of</strong> an individual employed full-time by an RMA<br />

member bank or dependent <strong>of</strong> an individual RMA associate. Applicant must be enrolled on a full-time basis at<br />

an accredited institution <strong>of</strong> higher learning. applications accepted for all undergraduate courses <strong>of</strong> study.<br />

However, special emphasis will be placed on individuals enrolled in a business or economic field <strong>of</strong> study.<br />

Scholarship amount: $750<br />

Application process: Applicant must fully complete <strong>the</strong> scholarship application. Applicant must provide an<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficial college transcript <strong>of</strong> grades. In a personal statement <strong>of</strong> 500 words or less, <strong>the</strong> applicant must describe<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir personal goals and how <strong>the</strong>ir educational plans relate <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Women Grocers <strong>of</strong> America (WGA) is pleased <strong>to</strong> assist <strong>the</strong> National Grocers Association (N.G.A.) in its<br />

pursuit <strong>to</strong> recruit and retain <strong>the</strong> next generation <strong>of</strong> quality managers and entrepreneurs by <strong>of</strong>fering at least two<br />

academic <strong>scholarships</strong> per year worth a minimum <strong>of</strong> $1,000 each <strong>to</strong> students intending <strong>to</strong> pursue a career in <strong>the</strong><br />

independent sec<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> grocery industry.<br />

Independent retailers and wholesalers, <strong>the</strong>ir employees and families, including WGA and N.G.A. members, are<br />

eligible <strong>to</strong> apply. Applicants must attend a U.S. college or university, <strong>have</strong> a 2.0 grade point average or better<br />

and be entering sophomores or continuing students in good standing in a two-year, associate degree-granting<br />

institution or four-year, bachelor degree-granting institution or graduate program.<br />

To be considered, <strong>the</strong> completed scholarship application, transcript and o<strong>the</strong>r requested material must be<br />

postmarked by June 1. Scholarship recipients will be chosen in a lottery from <strong>the</strong> qualified pool <strong>of</strong> applicants by<br />

<strong>the</strong> WGA board <strong>of</strong> direc<strong>to</strong>rs during <strong>the</strong>ir summer meeting.<br />
