<strong>The</strong> Pisacano Scholars program is designed <strong>to</strong> identify and promote <strong>the</strong> future leaders <strong>of</strong> Family Practice. <strong>The</strong> program will reimburse<br />

a portion <strong>of</strong> medical-school-related debt. Scholarships will be awarded <strong>to</strong> outstanding medical students for a four-or five-year period.<br />

Students who <strong>have</strong> made a commitment <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> Family Practice and who will enter <strong>the</strong>ir third or fourth year in medical school<br />

in <strong>the</strong> fall may apply. Applicants should exhibit <strong>the</strong> highest level <strong>of</strong> skill, compassion, leadership, and commitment <strong>to</strong> Family Practice<br />

as well as demonstrate financial need. <strong>The</strong> NJPMF will award up <strong>to</strong> 10 <strong>scholarships</strong> with a maximum value <strong>of</strong> $50,000 each.<br />

All materials should be returned in a 9" x 12" envelope and must be receivd by March 1.<br />

This an independent, not-for-pr<strong>of</strong>it organization composed <strong>of</strong> social and behavioral scientists and humanists from all over <strong>the</strong> world. It<br />

encourages scholars in different disciplines – including those related <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> social sciences in <strong>the</strong> humanities and in <strong>the</strong> biological and<br />

natural sciences <strong>to</strong> work <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r on <strong>to</strong>pical, conceptual and methodological issues that can benefit from interdisciplinary and<br />

international collaboration. At any give time <strong>the</strong> council supports two <strong>to</strong> three dozen programs. <strong>The</strong> Fellowship and grants programs<br />

sponsored by <strong>the</strong> SSRC provide pre-dissertation and dissertation fellowships, postdoc<strong>to</strong>ral fellowships and advanced research grants in<br />

both <strong>the</strong> social sciences and humanities. <strong>The</strong>se programs and projects are around <strong>the</strong> world.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Student Osteopathic Medical Association <strong>of</strong>fers <strong>scholarships</strong> <strong>to</strong> SOMA members. Applications are available in <strong>the</strong> spring from<br />

SOMA and <strong>the</strong> deadline is July 1. <strong>The</strong> amount is dependent upon availability <strong>of</strong> funds.<br />

• Thirty Seventh (37 th ) Division Veterans Association Scholarship<br />

Two <strong>scholarships</strong> <strong>of</strong> $1,000 each are awarded annually <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> son or daughter <strong>of</strong> a 37th Division veteran who served in World War I,<br />

World War II, or <strong>the</strong> Korean War. Applicants must display financial need and academic excellence. Applications are due April 1 <strong>of</strong><br />
