Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible <strong>to</strong> apply for <strong>the</strong> Academic Merit Scholarship. Selection is based<br />

upon academic excellence, community service and involvement, and biographical essay. Students must attend an<br />

accredited university or college and must maintain a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 or better. Awards range from $250 - $2,500.<br />

Awards are prorated according <strong>to</strong> enrollment status.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Tribute Award is open <strong>to</strong> graduate or undergraduate students. Awards are made <strong>to</strong> students who exhibit<br />

excellence in many areas <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir lives o<strong>the</strong>r than just academics. Applicants are required <strong>to</strong> meet a qualifying GPA<br />

<strong>of</strong> 2.75; however, <strong>the</strong> focus is on <strong>the</strong> applicant's outstanding achievements in four <strong>of</strong> five areas: Special Talents,<br />

Leadership, Obstacles Overcome, Community Service, or Unique Endeavors.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation <strong>of</strong>fers a scholarship and loan program <strong>to</strong> support osteopathic medical students.<br />

Consideration is given <strong>to</strong> residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pacific Northwest (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washing<strong>to</strong>n) who <strong>have</strong> lived,<br />

worked, and attended institutions <strong>of</strong> higher education in <strong>the</strong> Pacific Northwest. Assistance is available <strong>to</strong> students entering <strong>the</strong>ir third<br />

and fourth year <strong>of</strong> medical school. <strong>The</strong> deadline is February 1. Applications are available in <strong>the</strong> PCOM Student Financial Aid Office.<br />

<strong>The</strong> amount varies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> vary.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se awards are in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> $5,000 annually for up <strong>to</strong> four years, with a maximum <strong>of</strong> $20,000 <strong>to</strong>tal. <strong>The</strong>se awards are available<br />

only in consecutive four-year increments. It is only necessary <strong>to</strong> submit one application for consideration for any award in this group.
