• Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)

Applicants must meet the five following requirements to apply for a scholarship through the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. You can only
apply if you meet ALL five general eligibility requirements.
o Be of Hispanic Heritage: persons descended from Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Central American
(excluding Belize), South American (excluding Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana), or other Spanish cultures
o Be a US citizen OR legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
o Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent)
o Be pursuing or plan to pursue your first undergraduate or graduate degree
o Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students
The fellowship program provides support to medical students for an intensive year of fundamental research at any academic or notfor-profit
research institution in the United States (except NIH) to encourage medical students to pursue biomedical research careers.
Stipends will be $16,000. Students may apply during any year of their medical studies and may have prior research experience,
although this is not required. The fellowships are not available to students enrolled in M.D./Ph.D., Ph.D. or Sc.D. programs or those
who hold the Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree. Applicants will be evaluated on their demonstrated superior scholarship and promise for future
achievement in biomedical research. The Institute plans to award up to 60 new fellowships each year on the basis of a national
competition. Awards will be announced in April. Toward the end of the year in research, fellows may apply for continued fellowship
support, either for a second year of research or for support for up to two years, while study toward the M.D. degree is completed. A
small number of continued fellowships are awarded each year. They will provide an annual stipend as well as an $15,000 cost-ofeducation

o Health Professions Scholarship Program

Provides financial assistance for American Indian and Alaska Native (Federally recognized only) students only
enrolled in health professions and allied health professions programs. For this program, there are service
obligations and payback requirements that the recipient incurs upon acceptance of the scholarship funding.
Priority is given to Graduate Students, and Junior and Senior Level Students, unless otherwise specified.
