Graduate Scholarships<br />

Students, who are <strong>of</strong> Armenian parentage, residents <strong>of</strong> California, and in graduate school, should write <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Armenian Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

Society for scholarship information and applications. Applications are accepted July, August and September. Winners are announced<br />

in Oc<strong>to</strong>ber.<br />

This award, named after former AACOM Executive Direc<strong>to</strong>r Sherry R. Arnstein, recognizes underrepresented minority students at<br />

AACOM's member colleges <strong>of</strong> osteopathic medicine. <strong>The</strong> award amount for 2007 will be at least $1,000<br />

Eligibility: Applicants must be an underrepresented minority student in good academic standing and currently enrolled in <strong>the</strong>ir first,<br />

second, or third year at an AACOM member college <strong>of</strong> osteopathic medicine. Previous awardees are ineligible for future awards.<br />

Minorities included: African American, Native American, or Hispanic.<br />

Deadline: Entries must be post-marked by March 31, 2007. All entries must include <strong>the</strong> Cover Page , with all appropriate<br />

signatures, in addition <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> essay. Incomplete entries will not be considered.<br />

<strong>The</strong> awardee will be notified by July 15, 2007.<br />

Selection Criterion: Applicants must submit a 750-word (maximum) essay on: 1. What <strong>the</strong> osteopathic medical schools can do <strong>to</strong><br />

recruit/retain more underrepresented minority students; 2. What <strong>the</strong> applicant personally plans <strong>to</strong> do as a student and as a future D.O.<br />

<strong>to</strong> help increase minority student enrollment at a college <strong>of</strong> osteopathic medicine; and 3. How and why was <strong>the</strong> applicant drawn <strong>to</strong><br />

osteopathic medicine? (NOTE: <strong>The</strong> response <strong>to</strong> question #3 cannot exceed 250 words <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> essay.)
