• NSDAR - National Society Daughters <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> American Revolution<br />

NSDAR awards <strong>the</strong> <strong>following</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> through <strong>the</strong> DAR Scholarship Committee. All applicants must be<br />

citizens <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> US and must attend, or plan <strong>to</strong> attend, an accredited college or university in <strong>the</strong> US.<br />

(<strong>The</strong>se are one time awards <strong>of</strong> $5000. It is only necessary <strong>to</strong> submit one application for consideration for any<br />

award in this group).<br />

Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship – a one time $500 scholarship for students who are in financial need and<br />

desire <strong>to</strong> attend or are attending an accredited school <strong>of</strong> nursing. Deadline – February 15 th or August 15 th .<br />

Mildred Nutting Scholarship – a one time $500 scholarship for students who <strong>have</strong> <strong>been</strong> accepted or are<br />

currently enrolled in an accredited school <strong>of</strong> nursing. Preference will be given <strong>to</strong> candidates from <strong>the</strong> greater<br />

Lowell MA area. Deadline – February 15 th or August 15 th<br />

Madeline Picket Halbert Cogswell Nursing Scholarship – a one time $500 scholarship for students who desire<br />

<strong>to</strong> attend or are attending an accredited school <strong>of</strong> nursing, who are members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> NSDAR, descendants <strong>of</strong><br />

members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> NSDAR, or are eligible <strong>to</strong> be members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> NSDAR. DAR Member Number must be on <strong>the</strong><br />

Application. Deadline – February 15 th or August 15 th .<br />

Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship – a $2,000 scholarship awarded for up <strong>to</strong> four years <strong>to</strong> well qualified,<br />

deserving sons and daughters <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> NSDAR for four years <strong>of</strong> college. Outstanding recipients will<br />

be considered for an additional period <strong>of</strong> up <strong>to</strong> four years <strong>of</strong> study. DAR Member Number <strong>of</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r must be on<br />

<strong>the</strong> Application. Deadline – February 15 th .<br />

All applicants must be students currently enrolled in state-approved schools <strong>of</strong> nursing or pre-nursing in<br />

associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, generic doc<strong>to</strong>rate, and generic master's programs. (Pre-nursing<br />

students are students enrolled in college or university programs designed as preparation for entrance in<strong>to</strong> a<br />

program leading <strong>to</strong> an associate degree, diploma, or baccalaureate degree in nursing.) High school students are<br />

not eligible. Graduating high school seniors are not eligible. <strong>The</strong> student must be taking class equivalent <strong>to</strong> no<br />

less than six academic credits.<br />

• New England Navy Nurse Corps Association Scholarship – Middle<strong>to</strong>wn RI<br />

<strong>The</strong> New England Navy Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Committee has established a fund <strong>to</strong> award<br />

<strong>scholarships</strong> <strong>to</strong> deserving nursing students and Registered Nurses <strong>to</strong> continue <strong>the</strong>ir studies for a Baccalaureate<br />

or Master’s degree in Nursing. <strong>The</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> award will be $1,000., at this time <strong>the</strong>y will award one<br />

scholarship a year.<br />

Eligibility: Applicants for <strong>scholarships</strong> for <strong>the</strong> Baccalaureate Degree must:<br />

Be accepted by an accredited nursing program;<br />

Give evidence <strong>of</strong> successful completion <strong>of</strong> at least one clinical nursing course;<br />

Submit a transcript from a current or completed program;<br />

Obtain 2 recommendations from faculty members or pr<strong>of</strong>essional persons on <strong>of</strong>ficial letterhead;<br />

Submit a personal statement <strong>of</strong> 500 words or less giving reasons yu are qualified for a scholarship including<br />

career goals and potential for contribution <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>ession;
