Any accredited post secondary degree or certificate program is eligible for consideration as long as it has some relationship to the welfare of older citizens. Applications should be submitted no later than May 1. While applicants are free to submit any material they wish in support of their application, the only requirement is the completed application and a letter of recommendation. Notification will be made in early June. For further information and application materials please refer to the website above or by calling the Senior Center at 207-967-8514 • Health Research & Educational Trust of New Jersey (HRET) http://www.njha.com/hret/scholarship.aspx Graduate and Undergraduate Criteria: The Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey (HRET), an affiliate of the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA), believes it is particularly important to encourage and enable New Jersey residents to pursue health careers and, therefore, has established a scholarship fund to assist in meeting this need. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply. In recognition of the rising cost of higher education, and in cooperation with HRET, the New Jersey Hospital Association will provide grants for financial support (minimum of $2,000 each to one or more applicants) to selected students who are enrolled in the following programs: Graduate study in hospital or healthcare administration, public administration, graduate study in Nursing or other Allied Health Profession; Junior or senior year undergraduate study in hospital or healthcare administration, public administration, Nursing or other Allied Health Profession. Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: o Be a New Jersey resident; o Have been accepted in a graduate or undergraduate (junior and seniors only) program in hospital or healthcare administration or a graduate or undergraduate (junior or senior only) program in Nursing or Allied Health Profession; o Have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4 point system or equivalent); o Demonstration of financial need with a FAFSA document and financial aid application and/or federal tax return from the previous year. Student must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a baccalaureate or higher degree health professions education program in a school that is affiliated, through a participating professional association, with the Federation of Associations of Schools of Health Professions. Kennebec Valley Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship – preference given to displaced homemakers pursuing a career in health care. Other students in health related fields may be considered. Available annually. Kennebec Valley Medical Center Employee Activity Committee Scholarship – awarded to KVMC employees pursuing careers in health care. Available annually. Kennebec Valley Medical Center Scholarship – awarded to medical center employees or their family members pursuing educational opportunities in professions in which the KVMC administration determines there is a demonstrated need. Available annually. George Landwehr, M..D., Scholarship – preference given to KVMC nursing personnel seeking to further their education in obstetrics and gynecology. Other employees or students in health related field may be considered. Available annually. Florida C. Lewin Memorial Scholarship – primary consideration is given to students from the KVMC service area who are pursuing nursing careers. Available in even-numbered years only. Sarah L. (Sadye) Martel Scholarships – preference given to nursing staff members at KVMC’s Gardiner Division who choose to further their education in skilled nursing care. Next consideration are ancillary personnel at Gardiner working in skilled care, followed by any employee within Kennebec Health System interested in career in skilled care. Final consideration is given to any student from the KVMC service area entering the skilled care field. Available annually.
