North Dakota a 2013 NORTH DAKOTA BASEBALL MEDIA INFORMATION The 2013 University of North Dakota baseball media guide has been produced by the UND athletics media relations office to provide information for the media in covering the team this season. We appreciate your interest and will do everything possible to meet your needs. Please take a few minutes to read through the information on this page and to familiarize yourself with this publication. Thank you again for your interest and coverage and enjoy the season! MEDIA CREDENTIALS Media credentials will be issued only to working media, sports information/media relations personnel, league officials or staff members of competing institutions with a legitimate need for access to the press box. Requests for media credentials, season or single-game, for the 2013 season must be made in advance with the UND media relations office. It is asked that you submit credential requests at least one week prior to the game you will be covering. DAILY MEDIA SERVICES For the most up-to-date UND baseball news and statistics, visit www.UNDSports.com - the official site of UND Athletics. Weekly releases will be available on the website prior to each series. Updated statistics will be available on-line at the conclusion of each contest. PRESS SEATING Members of the media will be seated in the Kraft Field press box if seating is available or in a designated area in the bleachers. Cheering in the press box will not be tolerated and violators will be removed. The 2013 Great West Base- ball Championship will be held in Newark, N.J. this season. The governance of the Great West Conference remains primarily with the member institutions. Each member is represented on the President’s Council by its respective CEO. The general operations and management of the league will be conducted by the Directors of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrators (Joint Council). Scheduling of contests, assignment of officials and certain media relations functions remain with member institutions. PRESS BOX OPERATIONS Rosters, game notes, statistics and media guides will be available at the press box prior to and during all home games. Box scores will be distributed following each game. PHOTOGRAPHERS Photography credentials are issued to media and institutional photographers only. Photographers must remain in the designated areas in foul territory, if within the fencing. TELEPHONE LINES Those members of the media or visiting radio should call Mitchell Wigness at 701-777-4210 or e-mail him (mitchell. wigness@athletics.und.edu) at least three days prior to a game to make arrangements. INTERVIEWS The UND athletic media relations office is eager to assist the media with student-athlete and coach interview requests. In order to help in this endeavor, it is asked that all media requests be made in advance through Mitch Wigness, the baseball media relations director. Players will return phone calls once requested through the media relations office. As per UND Athletics policy, phone numbers of student-athletes will not be disclosed to members of the media. Student-athletes and coaches are also available for interviews before and after practice and all practices are open to the media. However, it is asked that media members wishing to attend practice contact Mitch Wigness in advance. Post-game interviews will be conducted on the field. 2013G Great West PreseasonPollPoll Reigning Great West Conference champion Utah Valley was selected as the favorite in the 2013 GWC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Wolverines have captured each of the last three league titles. North Dakota was slotted sixth in the poll. Utah Valley is gunning to improve on its 76-4 all-time mark in GWC play and was the pick to win the league by seven of the eight league coaches. The second through sixth teams in the poll were separated by just 15 points. Runnerup Houston Baptist grabbed 46 points and the other firstplace vote while NJIT was right behind with 45 points. Texas Pan-American was fourth (40) with Northern Colorado (34) and North Dakota (31) in fifth and sixth, respectively. NYIT (16) and Chicago State (13) rounded out the poll. NJIT will serve as the host for the conference’s 2013 postseason tournament, May 21-25, at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J.
