Clastogenic effects of home wastes and agricultural contam<strong>in</strong>ates of river artificial lake<br />

Badovc nearby Prisht<strong>in</strong>a , which supply <strong>the</strong> Prisht<strong>in</strong>a city by dr<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g water, were <strong>in</strong>vestigated<br />

<strong>in</strong> peripheral erythrocytes of fish Carasius aureatus . Exam<strong>in</strong>ation of blood smears showed<br />

that <strong>the</strong> formation of micronuclei significantly <strong>in</strong>creased dur<strong>in</strong>g one year (MN=29 /1000<br />

erythrocytes, <strong>with</strong> P value < 0.01) and were more abundant compared to <strong>the</strong> control group.<br />

This <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> formation of micronucleus <strong>in</strong>dicates that agricultural pollution <strong>in</strong>creases<br />

<strong>the</strong> risk of clastogenic effects on peripheral erythrocytes of fish Carasius aureatus and may<br />

has similar effects on <strong>the</strong> human population located around <strong>the</strong> artificial lake.
