<strong>COST</strong> FA <strong>0905</strong> aims at:<br />
• identify bottlenecks limit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> content of bioavailable m<strong>in</strong>erals (Fe, Zn, Mg,<br />
Se) <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> consumable crop part.<br />
• provide solutions for 3-fold <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> bioavailable food/feed m<strong>in</strong>eral<br />
content.<br />
• assess ways to limit <strong>the</strong> entry of Cd and As <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> food cha<strong>in</strong>.<br />
• dissem<strong>in</strong>ate this knowledge to stakeholders and <strong>the</strong> public. European<br />
dimension and added values <strong>COST</strong>.<br />
<strong>COST</strong> FA <strong>0905</strong> will strive to:<br />
• maximise European synergy <strong>in</strong> research cooperation,<br />
• provide <strong>in</strong>novative ideas to improve <strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>eral status of food and feed,<br />
• f<strong>in</strong>d methods to exploit genetic variability of food and fodder crops,<br />
• enhance scientific know how to improve m<strong>in</strong>erals <strong>in</strong> food under modern<br />
process<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
• create tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and exchange programs, for students, postdoctoral fellows<br />
and young researchers, especially women,<br />
• identify key <strong>in</strong>stitutes and personnel for efficient assessment of food and<br />
feed m<strong>in</strong>eral quality across Europe.
