Home of Champions, Memorial Coliseum
• Kentucky is one of only four schools in the Southeastern
Conference (Arkansas, Florida and LSU being the others) to
compete in its school’s main athletics arena.
• The Wildcats play all of their home matches at the Coliseum, the
home of the program since its inception in 1977.
• UK has compiled a record of 279-128 at home in the facility’s 30-
year history, good for a .686 winning percentage.
• Memorial Coliseum is the exclusive practice home of Kentucky
volleyball. With the construction of the Joe Craft Center, which
features practice courts for the men's and women's basketball
teams, the volleyball squad never has to worry about sharing
practice time with basketball.
• New for 2007, Memorial Coliseum features a brand-new
state-of-the-art locker room, team room and coaches’ offices.
• The Coliseum has played host to NCAA First and Second Round
action and also was the home of the 1983 Volleyball Final Four.
• Completed in 1950 at a cost of $3,995,000, the building serves as
a memorial to the more than 10,000 Kentuckians who lost their
lives in World War II and the Korean conflict.
• The building also houses the Center for Academic and Tutorial
Services (CATS), a $2.4 million facility which opened in 1998 and
is fully dedicated to ensuring the academic success of the Wildcats.
