Jeremy Cox is <strong>in</strong> his second year at <strong>Kentucky</strong>, after serv<strong>in</strong>g<br />
under Gillispie as an assistant coach at Texas A&M <strong>in</strong><br />
2006-07 where he helped lead the Aggies to a spot <strong>in</strong> the Sweet<br />
16, and a school best f<strong>in</strong>al rank<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> n<strong>in</strong>th <strong>in</strong> both the<br />
Associated Press and Coaches’ polls.<br />
Prior to his time <strong>in</strong> College Station, he was the head coach at<br />
Arkansas-Fort Smith for three seasons, guid<strong>in</strong>g the Lions to the<br />
2006 national junior college championship while also be<strong>in</strong>g<br />
named the NJCAA Coach <strong>of</strong> the Year.<br />
Cox began his coach<strong>in</strong>g career as a graduate assistant coach<br />
at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Wyom<strong>in</strong>g (1991-92) and later was an assistant<br />
at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Texas-San Antonio for four seasons<br />
(1993-97).<br />
As a part <strong>of</strong> former Lions coach Doc Sadler’s staff at<br />
Arkansas-Fort Smith <strong>in</strong> 2002-03, Cox helped the Lions to a<br />
20-8 f<strong>in</strong>ish and the Bi-State Conference East Division title.<br />
He was promoted to head coach the next season<br />
after Sadler became an assistant coach on<br />
Billy Gillispie’s staff at <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
Texas-El Paso. Sadler was later promoted<br />
to head coach at UTEP after<br />
Gillispie was hired at Texas A&M.<br />
As head coach, Cox guided the<br />
Lions to an 84-17 record, three<br />
consecutive 20-w<strong>in</strong> seasons and<br />
two Bi-State Conference East<br />
Division championships.<br />
In the 2006 season, UAFS was<br />
the unanimous preseason No. 1-<br />
ranked team <strong>in</strong> the nation for<br />
