Aschmann
Administrative Support Associate
Stephanie Aschmann enters
her third year with the UK Athletics
Association as the administrative support
associate for women’s basketball.
Aschmann is responsible for the day-to-day
schedules of the coaches, and their charitable activities
and public appearances. She also develops and
coordinates events for coaches, players, alumnae,
boosters, and fans. Her duties also include maintaining
the women’s basketball recruiting database
and assisting with daily administrative operations
in the basketball office.
Aschmann, 27, came to UK in October 2006
after serving as the Executive Director of the
Makenna Foundation, a nonprofit organization
that helps raise funds to make the Kentucky Children’s
Hospital a benchmark of children’s hospitals
by providing the necessary equipment and assisting
in hospital expansion.
Prior to the Makenna Foundation, Aschmann
was the Executive Director of the Bluegrass Tennis
Association, where she promoted tennis in central
Kentucky by coordinating fundraisers, programs,
and tournaments.
When not in the basketball office, the
Abbeville, La., native enjoys tennis and volunteering
in the community. Currently, Aschmann
serves on the UK Women’s Forum Board of
Directors and on the Junior League of Lexington

League Board. Aschmann earned her bachelor’s
degree at UK in 2003 in secondary education
social studies and currently is working on a master’s
degree in higher education.
Susan Lax
Associate Media Relations Director
Susan Lax is in her 12th season
with the University of Kentucky,
her eighth as Associate
Director of Media Relations. In addition to coordinating
all publicity efforts for the women’s basketball
team, she assists with public relations duties
for the Wildcat football team.
Lax was promoted to associate director after
serving as the department’s assistant director for
four years. The Murray, Ky., native joined the UK
staff in 1997 after spending two years as the assistant
media relations director at Murray State while
attending graduate school. Several of Lax’s publications
have won awards from the College of Sports
Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).
Lax graduated from Freed-Hardeman University
in Henderson, Tenn., where she was a three-year
letter winner for the Lady Lions tennis team. She
graduated in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in communications
with an emphasis in public relations.
She is a member of CoSIDA (College Sports
Information Directors of America), FWA (Football
Writers Association, and USBWA (United
States Basketball Writers Association).
Tricia Matysak
Senior Athletic Trainer
Tricia Matysak is in her fifth
season at Kentucky as the
women’s basketball athletic
trainer. Her secondary responsibilities are women’s
golf, rifle and volleyball. She also oversees all
women’s health issues and protocols for all sports.
A native of Knox, Ind., Matysak has over 11
years of experience in the athletic training field.
She came to the Bluegrass State from Notre Dame,
where she spent four seasons as the men’s soccer
and men’s and women’s lacrosse athletic trainer.
She also assisted with the Fighting Irish football
team and other Olympic sports while also performing
administrative duties. Matysak supervised
approximately 16 student athletic trainers at Notre
Dame, directed continuing education programs
and served as the Sports Medicine Correspondence
Coordinator.
Prior to Notre Dame, Matysak did post-graduate
work at Auburn from 1999-2001, receiving a
master’s of education in higher education administration
with an emphasis in sport management.
She also served as a graduate assistant trainer for
the Tiger softball program and assisted with football,
women’s soccer, swimming, golf and basketball
events.
Matysak graduated from Purdue in 1999 with
a degree in athletic training. While pursuing her
degree, she served as a student athletic trainer with
primary responsibilities for softball, women’s soccer,
volleyball and football.
Matysak is a certified member of the National
Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).

Jamie Moberly begins his
17th year with the UK Athletics
Association. He serves as the
facilities and operations coordinator for women’s
basketball and is responsible for all game-day setup
for Memorial Coliseum. He also is the event manager
for the volleyball and softball programs and
manages other special events in the Coliseum as
well as UK’s many other athletics facilities.
Moberly, a native of Lexington, received his
bachelor’s degree from Kentucky in 1991 and
earned a master’s degree in sport management
from UK in 1994.
Moberly and his wife, Esther, have a six-yearold
son, Ethan.
