Aschmann<br />

Administrative Support Associate<br />

Stephanie Aschmann enters<br />

her third year with the UK <strong>Athletics</strong><br />

Association as the administrative support<br />

associate for women’s basketball.<br />

Aschmann is responsible for the day-to-day<br />

schedules <strong>of</strong> the coaches, and their charitable activities<br />

and public appearances. She also develops and<br />

coordinates events for coaches, players, alumnae,<br />

boosters, and fans. Her duties also include maintaining<br />

the women’s basketball recruiting database<br />

and assisting with daily administrative operations<br />

in the basketball <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

Aschmann, 27, came to UK in October 2006<br />

after serving as the Executive Director <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Makenna Foundation, a nonpr<strong>of</strong>it organization<br />

that helps raise funds to make the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Children’s<br />

Hospital a benchmark <strong>of</strong> children’s hospitals<br />

by providing the necessary equipment and assisting<br />

in hospital expansion.<br />

Prior to the Makenna Foundation, Aschmann<br />

was the Executive Director <strong>of</strong> the Bluegrass Tennis<br />

Association, where she promoted tennis in central<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> by coordinating fundraisers, programs,<br />

and tournaments.<br />

When not in the basketball <strong>of</strong>fice, the<br />

Abbeville, La., native enjoys tennis and volunteering<br />

in the community. Currently, Aschmann<br />

serves on the UK Women’s Forum Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Directors and on the Junior League <strong>of</strong> Lexington<br />

League Board. Aschmann earned her bachelor’s<br />

degree at UK in 2003 in secondary education<br />

social studies and currently is working on a master’s<br />

degree in higher education.<br />

Susan Lax<br />

Associate Media Relations Director<br />

Susan Lax is in her 12th season<br />

with the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kentucky</strong>,<br />

her eighth as Associate<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Media Relations. In addition to coordinating<br />

all publicity efforts for the women’s basketball<br />

team, she assists with public relations duties<br />

for the Wildcat football team.<br />

Lax was promoted to associate director after<br />

serving as the department’s assistant director for<br />

four years. The Murray, Ky., native joined the UK<br />

staff in 1997 after spending two years as the assistant<br />

media relations director at Murray State while<br />

attending graduate school. Several <strong>of</strong> Lax’s publications<br />

have won awards from the College <strong>of</strong> Sports<br />

Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).<br />

Lax graduated from Freed-Hardeman <strong>University</strong><br />

in Henderson, Tenn., where she was a three-year<br />

letter winner for the Lady Lions tennis team. She<br />

graduated in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in communications<br />

with an emphasis in public relations.<br />

She is a member <strong>of</strong> CoSIDA (College Sports<br />

Information Directors <strong>of</strong> America), FWA (Football<br />

Writers Association, and USBWA (United<br />

States Basketball Writers Association).<br />

Tricia Matysak<br />

Senior Athletic Trainer<br />

Tricia Matysak is in her fifth<br />

season at <strong>Kentucky</strong> as the<br />

women’s basketball athletic<br />

trainer. Her secondary responsibilities are women’s<br />

golf, rifle and volleyball. She also oversees all<br />

women’s health issues and protocols for all sports.<br />

A native <strong>of</strong> Knox, Ind., Matysak has over 11<br />

years <strong>of</strong> experience in the athletic training field.<br />

She came to the Bluegrass State from Notre Dame,<br />

where she spent four seasons as the men’s soccer<br />

and men’s and women’s lacrosse athletic trainer.<br />

She also assisted with the Fighting Irish football<br />

team and other Olympic sports while also performing<br />

administrative duties. Matysak supervised<br />

approximately 16 student athletic trainers at Notre<br />

Dame, directed continuing education programs<br />

and served as the Sports Medicine Correspondence<br />

Coordinator.<br />

Prior to Notre Dame, Matysak did post-graduate<br />

work at Auburn from 1999-2001, receiving a<br />

master’s <strong>of</strong> education in higher education administration<br />

with an emphasis in sport management.<br />

She also served as a graduate assistant trainer for<br />

the Tiger s<strong>of</strong>tball program and assisted with football,<br />

women’s soccer, swimming, golf and basketball<br />

events.<br />

Matysak graduated from Purdue in 1999 with<br />

a degree in athletic training. While pursuing her<br />

degree, she served as a student athletic trainer with<br />

primary responsibilities for s<strong>of</strong>tball, women’s soccer,<br />

volleyball and football.<br />

Matysak is a certified member <strong>of</strong> the National<br />

Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).<br />

Jamie Moberly begins his<br />

17th year with the UK <strong>Athletics</strong><br />

Association. He serves as the<br />

facilities and operations coordinator for women’s<br />

basketball and is responsible for all game-day setup<br />

for Memorial Coliseum. He also is the event manager<br />

for the volleyball and s<strong>of</strong>tball programs and<br />

manages other special events in the Coliseum as<br />

well as UK’s many other athletics facilities.<br />

Moberly, a native <strong>of</strong> Lexington, received his<br />

bachelor’s degree from <strong>Kentucky</strong> in 1991 and<br />

earned a master’s degree in sport management<br />

from UK in 1994.<br />

Moberly and his wife, Esther, have a six-yearold<br />

son, Ethan.<br />
