Media Policies Media Policies and Procedures Credential Requests Requests for season credentials should be made by Nov. 1. Requests for single-game credentials should arrive no later than one week prior to the first regular season game. Requests should be made to: Susan Lax Associate Director of Media Relations E-mail: slax0@uky.edu Credential Policy The University of Kentucky follows guidelines set forth by the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference governing the issuance of credentials. Credentials for UK home games are issued to authorized full-time, salaried representative of, or a representative who regularly and customarily performs services for, such an entity and they are non-transferable. As early as possible, credentials should be requested in writing on company stationary and must originate only from sports editors of newspapers and national publications and/or sports directors of radio and television stations. Season credentials will be granted only to daily newspapers and television/radio stations that cover women’s basketball on a regular basis, i.e. press conferences, and all home games. Otherwise, television/radio stations, weekly newspapers and national publications will be granted credentials on a single-game, space-available basis. In addition, no recruiting services, Web sites, etc., will be credentialed at the University of Kentucky. Photo Credentials Photo credentials will be issued only to accredited media outlets - daily newspapers, specialized publications and television stations. Internet Credentials Only the official Web site of each participating institution and representatives of contractual rights-fee paying media will be granted access. Other media representatives not earning credentials through the criteria listed above will not be granted credentials to UK women’s basketball games for the purpose of staffing a web site. SEC Internet Policy The University of Kentucky also abides by the Southeastern Conference’s Internet policy Media Services News Conference — Coach DeMoss and selected players meet with members of the media in the press conference area of the UK Marketing offices at schedule times to be announced. Interview Policies-General — All interviews with players or staff members must be arranged through the Media Relations office. Team locker rooms, and other team quarters are private team areas. Media members are not permitted in these areas unless accompanied by appropriate University personnel. Practice — Practice usually runs from 12-3 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum. The final 30 minutes of practice will be open to media members. Media planning to attend practice should call in advance due to changing practice schedules during the season. Player and coaches interviews can be conducted following each practice. Telephone Player Interviews — Request telephone interviews at least 24 hours in advance through the Media Relations office. Telephone requests will be returned when players’ schedules allow. Radio Call-In Shows/Internet Chats — As specified by the Southeastern Conference, no players will be allowed to participate in live radio shows or on live chat sessions on the Internet. Coach DeMoss may participate in radio shows as her schedule allows. Postgame Interviews — Selected players and both head coaches will be available to the media following a 10-minute cooling off period at the end of the game in the UK Press Conference Room, located in UK Marketing Offices. 201 • 2006-07 Women’s Basketball The visiting coach and requested players will precede the home coach and players unless otherwise specified. Each press conference will last no longer than 15 minutes. SIDs from each school should be asked to coordinate any other interview requests. Quotes will be available for all working media in the UK Media Relations Office and on the official UK web site, UKAthletics.com. UKAthletics.com — The official Web site for University of Kentucky Athletics is updated 24 hours before each game with the latest game notes. Following each game, the site will post a game box score with summary, postgame quotes and notes from all home games and updated season statistics. Accessing Publicity Photos/Logos — Media members wishing to obtain photos and logos of the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team may do so by utilizing the SEC’s Digital Image Platform. Go to www.secsports.com/media to access the platform, and click on the SEC Digital Platform icon. Users have a choice of choosing various sports photographs, logos, etc., that can be downloaded automatically. Southeastern Conference Services Weekly Teleconference - The 12 Southeastern Conference women’s head basketball coaches will are scheduled for two regular season teleconferences. They are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 5 and Friday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. ET.
