UDFCD BMP MONITORING SITES Open Bed Sand Filter The WQCV basin may be oversized to contain the EURV, in which case design the orifice outlet to drain the EURV in 72 hours and control the 100-year volume as described in the Manual. Inlet Works Provide an energy dissipating outlet for all inlet points into the sand filter. Use an impact basin for pipes and a baffle chute or grouted sloping boulder drop if a channel or swale is used. Install a Type VL or L riprap basin at the inlet over a geotextile fabric that is wrapped up on the sides to the top of the sand layer. Fill all rock voids with filter sand.
