SECTION 35 - PAINTING AND SPECIALIST FINISHES<br />
35.1 OVERVIEW<br />
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.<br />
35.2 PREAMBLES<br />
35.2.1<br />
Particulars shall be given of:<br />
(a)<br />
Proprietary brands where specified;<br />

(b) Type and quality of materials;<br />
(c) Any specified application methods;<br />
(d) The general location and the height to which work rises.<br />
35.2.2 Rates to include<br />
(a)<br />
(b)<br />
(c)<br />
All preparatory work, including sanding between coats, and stopping to nail<br />
and screw holes etc.;<br />
Cutting-in;<br />
Masking.<br />
35.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />
35.3.1<br />
Where appropriate separate sections of the schedule (bill) of quantities shall be<br />
provided for:<br />
(a)<br />
(b)<br />
(c)<br />
(d)<br />
Painting;<br />
Paper hanging;<br />
Specialist finishes and spray coatings;<br />
Industrial membranes and coatings.<br />
35.3.2<br />
Surfaces to be treated shall be described and the work on each type of surface shall<br />
be scheduled separately.<br />
35.3.3<br />
Work shall be scheduled separately for each type of material and finish.<br />
35.3.4<br />
Material requiring treatment before fixing shall be scheduled separately.<br />
35.3.5<br />
New work shall be scheduled separately from work on previously decorated<br />
surfaces.<br />
35.3.6<br />
Exterior work shall be scheduled separately from interior work.<br />
