SECTION 35 - PAINTING AND SPECIALIST FINISHES
35.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
35.2 PREAMBLES
35.2.1
Particulars shall be given of:
(a)
Proprietary brands where specified;

(b) Type and quality of materials;
(c) Any specified application methods;
(d) The general location and the height to which work rises.
35.2.2 Rates to include
(a)
(b)
(c)
All preparatory work, including sanding between coats, and stopping to nail
and screw holes etc.;
Cutting-in;
Masking.
35.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
35.3.1
Where appropriate separate sections of the schedule (bill) of quantities shall be
provided for:
(a)
(b)
(c)
(d)
Painting;
Paper hanging;
Specialist finishes and spray coatings;
Industrial membranes and coatings.
35.3.2
Surfaces to be treated shall be described and the work on each type of surface shall
be scheduled separately.
35.3.3
Work shall be scheduled separately for each type of material and finish.
35.3.4
Material requiring treatment before fixing shall be scheduled separately.
35.3.5
New work shall be scheduled separately from work on previously decorated
surfaces.
35.3.6
Exterior work shall be scheduled separately from interior work.
