SECTION 31 - GRID SUSPENDED CEILINGS<br />
31.1 OVERVIEW<br />
Referto section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.<br />
31.2 PREAMBLES<br />
31.2.1 Rates to include<br />

Straight cutting on tiles;<br />
Seismic supports, including supports for lights.<br />
31.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />
31.3.1<br />
Seismic classification shall be stated (e.g., Class III Zone C) where specified.<br />
31.3.2<br />
Exterior ceilings shall be scheduled separately.<br />
31.3.3<br />
For sloping ceilings the pitch shall be stated in degrees from horizontal.<br />
31.3.4<br />
Note shall be made if services are in the ceiling space.<br />
31.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE<br />
31.4.1<br />
The suspension system shall be measured in square metres. The description shall<br />
include rails, hangers, spacers, and the like, the type and method of fixing, and the<br />
background material from which the system is suspended. The ceiling height above<br />
floor level and depth of ceiling space shall be stated.<br />
31.4.2<br />
Trimming suspension system for lightfittings, grilles, and the likeshall be enumerated<br />
as extra value.<br />
31.4.3<br />
Edge trim to the periphery of the suspension system or to columns, openings and the<br />
like, shall be measured in metres and the method of fixing shall be described. Trim<br />
tocolumns, openings and the like shall be measured as extra value and total number<br />
stated.<br />
31.4.4<br />
Ceiling tiles or infill panels shall be described and measured in square metres.<br />
Deductions for openings shall be made for whole tiles or whole panels only.<br />
31.4.5<br />
Openings or penetrations in ceiling tiles or panels for light fittings, grilles, sprinkler<br />
heads and the like shall be enumerated.<br />
31.4.6<br />
Raking and circular cutting to ceiling tiles or panels shall be measured in metres.<br />
31.4.7<br />
Seismic breaks, trunkings and the like shall be measured in metres.<br />
31.4.8<br />
The provision of shop drawings and design submissions shall be itemised.<br />
