SECTION 14 - STONE MASONRY
14.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
14.2 PREAMBLES
14.2.1 Rates to include
(a)

Straight cutting;
Cleaning on completion.
14.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
14.3.1
Unless otherwise specified, stone masonry shall be scheduled in square metres
stating the thickness.
14.3.2
Exterior work shall be scheduled separately from interior work.
14.3.3
Descriptions shall include details of:
(a) Type, quality and general size of stones or slabs;
(b) Texture and finish to exposed faces;
(c) Composition and mix of mortar or details of other materials for bedding and
jointing;
(d) The general location and height to which work rises.
14.3.4
Circular work shall be scheduled separately stating if circular on one or both faces
and the radius of the curve.

14.3.5
Work to floors and walls shall be scheduled separately.
14.3.6
Work to floors to falls or cross falls shall be so described.
14.3.7
Work to sides, soff its and tops of beams and to sides of columns shall be scheduled
separately.
14.3.8
Pattern workshall bescheduled separately and, if of different typesof stone, thearea
of each type shall be stated. The description shall include all necessary cutting to
form the pattern.
14.3.9
Work to isolated surfaces not exceeding 1 .O m2 shall be scheduled separately.
14.3.10
Work not exceeding 300 mm in width shall be scheduled in metres stating the width.
This shall apply to all narrow widths except those in plane surfaces caused by
openings and the like.
