SECTION 13 - BLOCKWORK
13.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
13.2 PREAMBLES
13.2.1 Rates to include

Use of fractional size blocks for bonding purposes;
Vertical straight cutting;
Cleanout openings;
Cleaning on completion;
Temporary support.
13.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
13.3.1
Unless otherwise specified, blockwork shall be scheduled in square metres and the
thickness shall be stated. Blockwork referred to in this section includes any
preformed blockwork ¡.e. concrete masonry, vermiculite masonry, polystyrene
blockwork etc.
13.3.2
Exterior work shall be scheduled separately from interior work.
13.3.3
Descriptions shall include details of:
(a)
(b)
(c)
(d)
Type, size and quality of blocks. Purpose-made blocks shall be so described;
Composition of mix and mortar, and thickness of joint;
Type of pointing, tooling or raking out joints;
The general location and the height to which work rises.
13.3.4
Blockwork shall be scheduled separately for:

(b)
(c)
(d)
(e)
(f)
Walls; solid filled, intermittently filled or unfilled;
Single skin walls built fair face both sides;
Veneer walls;
Chimneys;
Isolated piers and columns;
Blockwork used as formwork. Temporary strutting shall be stated in the
description;
(9) Decorative work.
