SECTION 8 - PRECAST CONCRETE
8.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
8.2 PREAMBLES
8.2.1 Rates to include

(c)
(d)
Formwork, moulds and casings;
Lifting eyes, devices and frames where not detailed;
Temporary supports where not detailed;
Forming cambers where required.
8.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
8.3.1
Precast concrete work shall be described and classified according to the function,
shape and finish.
8.3.2
Taking delivery, hoisting, setting and fixing in position may be measured separately,
and the method of scheduling this item shall be clearly stated. Fixing shall be
described and classified according to position in the structure. The size and
approximate mass shall be stated.
8.3.3
Each item shall be enumerated and shall include the detailed quantities, scheduled
according to the appropriate sections of this Standard Method of Measurement
unless otherwise stated.
8.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
8.4.1
Where no definite lengths are stated, sills, copings and similar items shall be
measured in metres.
8.4.2
Fixings, bolts or brackets, unless measured elsewhere, shall be enumerated.
8.4.3
Welding required for the fixing of precast units shall be measured in metres, or
enumerated as appropriate.
8.4.4
Sealants, pointing, gaskets, damp-proofing and the like shall be measured separately.
8.4.5
Precast paving slabs and the like shall be measured in square metres stating the
sizes of slabs (and the methods of bedding and jointing). Raking cutting shall be
measured in metres.
