SECTION 1 - PRELIMINARIES
1.1 OVERVIEW
Referto section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
1.2 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
1.2.1
The form of contract shall be stated by reference.
1.2.2
A general description of the works shall be given, together with the gross floor area
where applicable.

1.3 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
The following shall be itemised where appropriate:
1.3.1
The general conditions and special conditions of contract.
1.3.2
Compliance with, and the giving of, notices required by any Act of Parliament, by
regulations made thereunder, or by the order or direction of any lawful authority, and
the paying and indemnifying of the employer against anyfeesorchargesdemandable
by law thereunder unless stated elsewhere.
1.3.3
The obtaining of necessary approvals from any relevant authority, and the payment
of fees payable to such authority in respect of such approvalsor otherwise in relation
to the building works, unless stated elsewhere.
1.3.4
The provision of separate items for each insurance shall be scheduled and specific
reference made to the relevant clauses of general conditions and special conditions
of contract.
1.3.5
The provision of a performance bond.
1.3.6
The provision and updating of programmes.
1.3.7
The provision of quality assurance requirements.
1.3.8
The provision of signboards, together with details of signwriting.
1.3.9
Setting out of the works, and the provision of all instruments and labour required by
the contract documents for the checking of this work.
1.3.1 O
The provision of water for the works and any necessary temporary plumbing and
storage, and ongoing charges.
