Electronic Fundamentals Assignment
Date Due:
Electronic Circuit Design
1. Design and describe the operation of a small electronic circuit consisting of not less
than six components. There should be at least three different types of components
that you have learned about on this course. The circuit is to have a practical
application but is not to go beyond the theory you learned on this course.
2. Describe the operation of the circuit and the function of each component used.
3. Describe now the various inputs affect the output of your circuit.
4. Draw your own schematic circuit diagram of your circuit using either “Multisim” or
“Circuitmaker6”.
5. Draw your own veroboard layout for your circuit using “Ron J’s” method.
6. Describe the sequence of construction and any warnings, cautions and or areas that
require special attention.
7. Use Microsoft Excell (with imbedded formula for the calculations) to prepare a BILL
OF MATERIALS AND COSTINGS for purchasing enough material to construct 1, 100
& 1000 of your circuit (buying components in 100’s gets you a 15% discount and
1000’s a 30% discount).
8. State testing and fault finding procedures and voltage, current or resistance readings
you would expect to see at critical points in the circuit.
9. Remember how to present an assignment!
10. Email your completed assignment as one document to your tutor.
Note:
1. This is to be your best work – demonstrating all you have learned on
the course. It should be good enough to show to a prospective
employer and get you the job.
2. Somebody reading this assignment should be able to make the
circuit and fault find it.
3. As an example of what is required refer to the Power Supply Project
instructions. You are expected to be able to have a similar layout – just
not such a complex circuit and instructions etc.
