CERTIFICATION (HCT 200)
Course Description
This course is intended for participants involved in ongoing maintenance and repair of
hydraulic machinery. Participants will be qualified to analyze, troubleshoot, and implement
long-term solutions to hydraulic machine failures.
Learning Outcome
The successful completion of this course should enable the participant to obtain in-depth
knowledge of:
1. fluid handling and system filtration requirements;
2. component operation, interaction and adjustments;
3. circuit analysis and hydraulic print-reading;
4. component and system failure modes and corrections;
5. maintenance techniques, preventative maintenance program and support requirements;
and
6. systematic troubleshooting techniques and failure prevention.

Certification Test
A certification test will be administered on the last day of the class. Participants achieving at
least 70% will receive a numbered certificate from Macomb Community College.
Prerequisites
Participants must have completed a basic hydraulics course (HYT 100) or have a fundamental
knowledge of hydraulic technology.
