People are an important component in the healing process of the planet. Humankind forgot
the universal laws and, in this way, violence was born. By building stone circles we are
looking for cosmic patterns that carry the universal community of life. The Lithopuncture
Circles aim to promote the healing process of the Earth and to support the transformation
processes of humankind that have become necessary today. Lithopuncture Circles work
according to the principles of resonance, cooperation and mutual completion.

1. The Litho Puncture Circle in Tamera
On a gently ascending hill at the centre of the
emerging Healing Biotope 1 ‘Tamera’ in the portuguese
Alentejo the first stone of the Lithopuncture
Circle “Icons of the Future” was erected on October
12, 2004 inaugurating the Lithopuncture Circle. The
setting of the first stone was preceded by a year of
practical preparation, including three construction
seminars – as well as many years of geomantic and
spiritual research into the historical stone circles
which still exist.
The idea to build the Lithopuncture Circle in Tamera
was born in Malta through the cooperation of Marko
Pogačnik, geomantist and landscape healer, Peter
Frank, his long time student and Sabine Lichtenfels,
theologian, peace activist, co-founder of Tamera and
spiritual history researcher. They worked together intensively
with the aim of beginning the “Icons of the
Future”. Co-workers of Tamera helped by taking part
in several seminars.
To date, more than 70 stones up to 2.2 meters high,
have been created. Some are inscribed with cosmogrammes,
and each stone represents an archetypal
power point in the network of life. When finished,
the icon is to consist of 90 stones that build a harmonious
system of essential archetypes in a universal
community. Throughout the years it will develop into
a teaching path where individuals and groups can
discover and reaffirm a deeper knowledge of peace.
The Lithopuncture Circle is part of a peace plan that
brings human forces, forces of nature and cosmic
forces together. It is the first modern Lithopuncture
Circle. We support the hope that a geomantic-political
network develops all around the globe.
Tamera is a planetarian research centre for a global,
societal and ecological peace culture.
2. The Historical Stone Circles
Stone Circles are an ancient development of humankind.
Their remains are and were found on
all continents. The culture of the stone circles had its
peak some thousands of years ago during the Megalithic
period.
What kind of culture was able to build such astronomically
exact stone circles, with such huge mechanical
challenges, and yet leave behind few other
material remains?
It was obviously a highly developed archaic world
culture that developed these stones. A culture who
lived for a long time in an outwardly very simple way
with a high knowledge of natural contexts and astronomies,
who worshipped a Mother Goddess and
kept peace. The stone circles were centres of a consciousness
of the world and they were energetically
and spiritually linked with one another. They formed
a global net of power on the earth.
Sabine Lichtenfels draws a comprehensive picture of
historical peace cultures in her book „Traumsteine –
Reise in ein Zeitalter der sinnlichen Erfüllung“ (Dream
Stones – A Journey into the Era of Sensual Fulfilment
– not yet available in English). Through research into
the stone circle of Almendres near Évora and other
pre-historic temples of the earth she received a comprehensive
picture of peace cultures that revealed a
highly developed knowledge about community and
cooperation with nature.
When we start again with the erection of a stone
circle today, we follow similar thoughts. A centre of
power is supposed to emerge that can be installed
in this way or similarly everywhere on earth – as a
planetary symbol for a coming epoch of peace and
cooperation with all beings of Creation.

4. The Status of the Construction and its Planned Continuation
In 2004 three construction seminars took place. Participants
were the ecologist team of Tamera, Students
of the Peace School Mirja, as well as external
participants.
The first two seminars served, on the one hand,
the practical work – the choice of the location within
Tamera, the preparatory design of the surrounding
biotope, the selection of stones. At the same time
the co-builders learned to find archetypes, healing
pictures of the soul, to chisel them into the stones as
cosmogrammes and train the craft of chiselling.
In autumn the area of the Lithopuncture Circle was
cleaned from the cyst rose macchia. During the last
seminar in October 25 stones were erected, most of
them with cosmogrammes chiselled in. The building
of the stone icon is planned to last many years. All in
all more than 90 stones are planned for – the exact
number will only become apparent during the construction.
For the next two years it is planned to increase the
number of the stones to approx. 60 stones. For the
Lithopuncture Circle to receive its full significance as
an Icon of the Future further measures are necessary.
Individual Work to be done from 2005 on:
• Design and Planting of the Surrounding area
The Lithopuncture Circle will be surrounded by
a circle of trees with regional forest, fruit and nut
trees. Complimentary plants and green fertilisation
plants will cover the ground in and around
the stone circle. To support cultivation a water pipe
must be installed.
• Second Coinnstruction Phase:
The Next Approximately 25 Stones. The erection of
the next 25 stones is planned for 2005. Again, this is
planned to be done in various building seminars.
• Design of the Wider Surroundings
The design of the wider surroundings comprises of
further plan-ting of regional forest, fruit, and nut
trees to a fo-rest with a lot of light, the installation
of paths, rest places, of biotopes with hill beds for the
view protection. Therefore further water pipes and
faucets are necessary.
• Erecting Special Stones in the Form
of Special Seminars
In the course of the next two years ten further stones
are to be erected. Which ones that will be, when and
with which people they will be erected, remains to be
decided along with the development of the Healing
Biotope and its focuses, as well as the resonance with
what is happening in the world.
• Further Maintenance
A special team of the researcher community of Tamera
will take over the practical and geomantic cultivation
of the Lithopuncture Circle, as well as taking care of
visitors. Two intensive seminars per year for rituals and
common perception and maintenance of the Lithopuncture
Circle are foreseen.
• Publications
Currently, a website about the Lithopuncture Circle
of Tamera is being set up (www.ikone-der-zukunft.
org). It is regularly updated in English and German.
As well as this, a print publication is planned with
all the information that can help further builders of
Lithopuncture Circles with their work.

5. The Place: Healing Biotope 1 Tamera
The Lithopuncture Circle is built on the approximately
134 hectares of terrain of the Healing
Biotope 1 Tamera. The place chosen for the circle is a
hill in the middle of the site that had been previously
identified by Marko Pogačnik in 1996 as the “heart
place” of the site. At the same time it is the geographic
centre of the site.
The Healing Biotope 1 Tamera is located in southern
Portugal in the Alentejo, one of the least densely
populated areas of Europe. Tamera is a planetary
centre of research for the development of a sociological
and ecological peace culture model. Throughout
the year approx. 150 scientists and practitioners,
students and apprentices, children and youngsters,
specialists and co-workers coming from various
areas of life, from nature and future research, work
here on a comprehensive peace information, on a
replicable model for peace villages in the crisis areas
of the earth.
The fields of research include ecological technologies,
energy production and mater recycling without
the use of industrial chemicals, self-sufficient food
production using permaculture and agroforestry, cooperation
and friendship with animals and plants, all
aspects of culture such as arts, communication, music
and nutrition, as well as child raising, love, sexuality
and religion. In this sense the co-workers of Tamera
have committed themselves to a way of life where all
areas of living belong to the research.
Tamera was founded in 1995 after many years of
preparation. The initiators are Dieter Duhm, sociologists
and one of the leading minds of the German ´68
student movement, Rainer Ehrenpreis, physicist, musician
and economist, and Sabine Lichtenfels, theologian
and peace activist. Sabine Lichtenfels´ extensive
study of the pre-historic utopia of the stone circle of
Almendres near Évora has considerably influenced
the foundation of Tamera.
6. A Network of Lithopuncture Circles
The Lithopuncture Circle that is being built in Tamera
is the first in a series of further comparable
stone icons: circles, individual stone settings, and geomantic
peace monuments at selected key places in
the energy system of the earth. These includes magnetic
nodal points of the Earth as well as crisis areas
or scenes of important peace initiatives.
In 2005 Marco Pogačnik and Peter Frank assisted in
the construction of a Lithopuncture Circle in Zagreb.
And in 2008, Sabine Lichtenfels started to build a
Lithopuncture Circle together with the inhabitens of
San José de Apartadó in Columbia, that reflects their
basic values.
The idea is – to use terminology drawn from Chinese
medicine – to set a system of acupuncture points
in the organism of the planet and to thereby install a
global field of power. This healing field of power is to
support peace activities of many groups worldwide
and anchor their work in the network of life.
The builders of the Lithopuncture Circle of
Tamera will gladly support the development of further
Lithopuncture Circles or geomantic stone settings
if certain conditions are fulfilled under the
appropriate conditions. It is important that a responsible
group or initiative forms that will continue to
care for to cultivate and use the stone icon.
As an expression of the fact that we do not follow
a certain dogma, religion or a teaching, we have decided
that the centre of the stone circle will always
remain empty. This is an expression of the fact that
we are always open for the processes of transformation
and the development of the new.

7. The Initiators
Sabine Lichtenfels is a theologian, peace activist
and co-founder of the Healing Biotope 1 Tamera
and dedicates her work particularly to the research
of peace cultures. She was born in 1954 in Münster
Germany, studied theology to learn more about the
“revolutionary Jesus” and then left the church to
search, however, for more humane forms of living. In
1978 she met the sociologist and psycho-therapist
Dieter Duhm, with whom she built an inter-disciplinary
research community from which today’s Healing
Biotope 1 Tamera developed. In Tamera she directs
the spiritual research as well as the Institute for Global
Peace Work (IGF), which supports peace initiatives
in many countries and prepares for peace villages in
Israel/Palestine and in different parts of the world.
Sabine was one of the ”1000 women” who were
nominated for the Nobel Peace Price 2005.

Marko Pogačnik is a landscape artist and specialist
in geomantics. He was born in 1944 in
Kranj, Slovenia, studied sculpture, gained an international
reputation in conceptual arts and land art
with exhibitions in Munich, Paris and New York.
From 1965 – 1970 he was a member of the OHO
group. From the landscape art he developed “Lithopuncture
of the Earth” to support the self-healing
forces of the Earth. Since 1979 he directs a project for
the healing of nature and city landscape by means
of stone setting in, among other places, the castle
park of Türnich and Cappenberg, Northern Ireland,
Salzburg, Ljubiljana, Klagenfurt and other cities and
landscapes. He directs the technical training “Earth
Healing, Geomantic Landscape Planning and Environmental
Protection” at the Geomantic School

3. The Whitethorn
The Whitethorn is an especially important healing plant for
Tamera. It strengthens the power of the heart and the opening
of the heart. Its white (blossom), red (fruit) and black
(branches) colors also represent the colors of the Goddess.
4. The Olive
In many culture the olive branch is a symbol of peace. The
olive also represents the beginning of the cultures and the
rebirth of the feminine.
9. The Water Stone
Water is life. Water as a carrier of information. Healing, purification
and power of this basic element.
10. Transition Stone
Transition between worlds. Life and death, birth and dying.
Awareness of these processes. The human being as a witness
and co-creator of these rhythms of life.

5. The Forest Stone
The forest is the Earth’s dress. The biotope power of the
forest is more than the sum of its trees. This stone actively
supports the reforestation of the property and of all of
Southern Portugal.
