• A champion to proactively guide the scheme through economic
appraisal stage should be agreed as soon as possible.
• A visit for interested respondents to the existing scheme in Hong Ling
Gardens, Belfast, and other schemes for older people to enable potential
residents to become aware of the appropriateness of such a scheme.
• To undertake a satisfaction survey of tenants currently living in Hong
Ling Gardens. The findings would provide guidance on the most
successful aspects of the scheme and those where improvement might
be needed, which could be applied to other future developments.
In addition, some qualitative research should be carried out with
community leaders and, for example, local shop staff.
