SURVIVAL OUTCOMES<br />
Adult survival from cardiac arrest<br />
Adult survival from OHCA has increased steadily over the past 10 years. In 2002/03, survival to<br />
hospital and survival to discharge were 24% and 6% respectively, for all adult OHCAs. This<br />
figure has improved to 32% and 11% respectively, in the most recent fiscal year.<br />

Survival to discharge<br />
A patient who suffers a cardiac arrest in the presence of paramedics is likely to benefit from<br />
immediate resuscitation and defibrillation. In <strong>2011</strong>/<strong>12</strong>, EMS witnessed adult events had a 21%<br />
increased chance of survival to hospital, and 21% increased chance of survival to hospital<br />
discharge when compared to non-EMS witnessed events.<br />
