• Oversight or delivery <strong>of</strong> the supervisor <strong>of</strong> training roles for registrars<br />

• Contribute to relevant external educational activity related to retrieval services<br />

• Commitment to and participation in research<br />

• Guideline review: review <strong>of</strong> proposed ARV guidelines where expert input is required<br />

• Develop a strategic learning and development plan to build ARV’s capability and sustainability for the future<br />

• Analyse learning outcomes and organisational needs in light <strong>of</strong> relevant research findings, best practice and workforce<br />

trends<br />

• Develop strategies to provide quality learning/education opportunities to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> ARV<br />

• Contribute to the education and training <strong>of</strong> other Retrieval Consultants undertaking Critical Care Coordination and<br />

Retrieval Response as required to ensure appropriate training<br />

Participate in:<br />

• Incident review, including review <strong>of</strong> ARV cases/incidents and trends in incident reporting as requested by the <strong>Director</strong><br />

• Clinical reviews (referred): review <strong>of</strong> cases referred through the routine case review process which are identified as<br />

potential level 1 or 2 variations, prior to such cases being referred to the Sentinel Event Committee<br />

• Complaint investigation: review cases for which serious complaints are raised to to review ARV responses to<br />

complaints<br />

• Credentialing and appointments: to participate in the ARV credentialing and interview and appointments processes as<br />

required<br />

• General management issues: The DET is a member <strong>of</strong> the senior management groups with the department and will<br />

provide input and contribution to management processes (including attendance at departmental management<br />

meetings, cover for the ARV <strong>Director</strong> during leave periods, and input into strategic planning<br />

Clinical Advice • Provide clinical advice and support to Retrieval Consultants undertaking Critical Care Coordination and Retrieval<br />

• Communicate and interact with staff for the effective and consistent messaging <strong>of</strong> the AV strategic plan and other<br />

• Provide an escalation point for managing employee grievances and performance management issues to ensure actions<br />

and referrals are appropriate, documented and followed up in line with AV policies and procedures<br />

• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the CEO, Executive and external stakeholders and<br />

staff to ensure that items <strong>of</strong> interest to AV are captured, reported and acted on as required.<br />

Selection Criteria<br />

Qualifications and experience<br />

• Legally qualified medical practitioner registered in the State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Victoria</strong><br />

• Appropriate specialist medical qualifications (i.e. MBBS or equivalent, FACEM, FRANZCA, FRACP, ICM Colleagues or equivalent).<br />

• Significant relevant clinical practice with clinical experience in emergency and critical care medicine<br />

• Compliance with specialist college CME requirements<br />

• High level pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in telephone medicine (including clinical assessment) and multiple agency organisation<br />

• Previous experience in a medical retrieval service and knowledge <strong>of</strong>, or experience working in the Australian health system<br />

• Pr<strong>of</strong>icient in the use <strong>of</strong> Micros<strong>of</strong>t Office applications<br />

• Relevant postgraduate educational qualification or experience<br />

• Demonstrated management experience at a strategic level, with strong relationship management skills.<br />

• Experience in the management and supervision <strong>of</strong> staff<br />
