Jordan Eberle, RW – EDM
This is a big drop for Eberle, who was sitting just shy of the top 50
last month. A big reason for that change is due to the fact that
Volume 2.0 of the Roto Guide blended the trade value of a player
into the roto score. This allowed for players like Eberle and
Duchene (below) to have a boost in roto rank. This time around,
these well-liked players have tumbled.
If this was a points-only league, Eberle would be a sexy pick, heck, even standard roto he would be ok.
Though in extended roto, beyond goals (tier 2), assists (2), PPP (2), and SOG (1.75), Eberle provides
nothing else. He lacks in PIM, plus/minus and doesn’t hit or blocks shots. Note that even though he
doesn’t score well in the overall roto department, which this list is based on, if you can build around his
strengths, Eberle can and will be a valuable piece to any team’s puzzle. Especially if there are positional
requirements.
His trade value is still very high (tier A), but will never be among rotisseries best unless he manages to
put up consistent plus-10 (or more) player and throw his body around more. He has the potential to
crack the list (C), but has some work to do, as mentioned above.

Matt Duchene, C – COL
Copy and paste the same reasoning as Jordan Eberle’s above.
Duchene, like Eberle, is another sexy pick that had good value last
edition because of his high trade value (A). But when placed in
separate columns, his roto weaknesses arise. Unfortunately points
and power play points just don’t cut it. Experienced roto poolies will
be able to build around Duchene without hesitation, but to the new
guys signing up in rotisserie leagues – buyer beware.

Shane Doan, RW – PHX (UFA)
Here is a name that has been thrown around in rotisserie leagues
over the years. But with a decade of dominance comes an inevitable
decrease in production. While Doan is no longer a roto stallion, he
can still be a serviceable winger that will produce moderate numbers
across the board. Hits (tier 2) are his highlight, along with PIM (1.5)
SOG (1.5) and points (G : 1.5, A : 2). So if you temper those
expectations and draft wisely, you will not be disappointed.
