Innsbruck‘s Christmas Markets
OPENING CELEBRATIONS
Christmas Market in the Old Town & Marktplatz
Sat 15 Nov. 2014 5.30 pm and 6 pm
These Christmas markets both open in traditional and contemplative
style. The Christmas Market in the Old Town is the first to
open with the traditional sounds of the tower trumpeters before
the Christmas tree in front of the Golden Roof is illuminated with
more than 1,300 lights. The procession continues to the Christmas
Market at the Marktplatz Square, which will open with a spectacular
sensation again this year. The unveiling of the Swarovski
Star is the highlight of the opening festivities.
Hungerburg Christmas Market
Fri 21 Nov. 2014, 5 pm
The traditional opening of this market takes place with a magnificent
view across the whole city, with the tree lights being switched
on this year by Mayor Christine Oppitz-Plörer. The children’s choir
provides musical accompaniment to the programme.
Christmas Magic in Wilten
Mon 24 Nov. 2014, 5 pm
Christmas magic begins in the district of Wilten on 20 November.
Look forward to various arts and crafts, traditional gifts and many
a curiosity at this market.
Christmas Market in Maria-Theresien-Straße
Tue 25 Nov. 2014, 5.30 pm
A spectacular light show always sets the perfect mood on the
opening day of this market. Excitement builds to the sounds of
international music as the highlight of the evening draws near:
the switching on of the lighting design by Mayor Christine Oppitz-
Plörer.
St. Nikolaus Christmas Market

Traditional opening of this market with Christmas wind musicians
and Tyrolean “Anklöpfler” carol singers.
