PLAYOFFS RECORDS 2009-10 REVIEW PLAYERS BASKETBALL OPS FRONT OFFICE HISTORY NBA MISC. 20 BASKETBALL OPERATIONS 2010-11 CHARLOTTE BOBCATS MEDIA GUIDE Scott Howard Director of Scouting Scott Howard is in his fourth season with the Bobcats as Director of Scouting. He spent the previous season as a scout with the Milwaukee Bucks, and prior to that, he spent two years with the Toronto Raptors as Director of International Player Personnel, where he was responsible for all aspects of player personnel outside of North America and coordinated player workouts ahead of the NBA Draft. He also served as a scout for the Washington Wizards from 2000-04. Howard also spent 17 years as a collegiate coach, including seven seasons at the University of Miami, three seasons at the University of Nebraska, and one season each at Southern Illinois, Drake and Southern California. Howard received his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1983 from Iowa State University, where he was a two-year letterman for the basketball team. He earned his master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Iowa in 1985 while serving as a volunteer assistant and graduate assistant coach. Rich Sheubrooks Director of Global Scouting Rich Sheubrooks is in his fourth season with the Bobcats as the team’s Director of Global Scouting. Sheubrooks, who spent the previous six seasons in the same role with the Memphis Grizzlies, also serves as a Global Basketball Consultant for Nike, where he directs and organizes camps across South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He also served as Director of the Michael Jordan Euro Tour Clinics in 2007. His previous Nike positions have also included European Sports Marketing Manager for Basketball from 1997-99 and Nike Basketball Grassroots & Events Manager from 1990-94. In addition, Sheubrooks has served as an NBA color analyst for Sky TV in the United Kingdom since 2005. Sheubrooks is no stranger to the Charlotte sports scene, having served as Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Commission from 1994-97. While living in Europe for the past 11 years, he has also maintained a home on Lake Norman, and his wife, Muriel Helms, is a former president of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. Sheubrooks received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and his master’s degree from Texas A&M Kingsville. He has also coached at the collegiate level, spending two seasons each as an assistant coach at Texas A&I University and Midwestern State, before returning to Texas A&M Kingsville as head coach from 1976-79. Jim Thrash Scout Jim Thrash is in his fourth season as a scout for the Bobcats, after having served in the same role for the Golden State Warriors for the previous three seasons. Thrash spent 17 years as a coach at the high school and collegiate levels, culminating with two seasons as an assistant at Purdue University, where the Boilermakers went to the Sweet 16 in the 1999 NCAA Tournament and the Elite Eight in the 2000 tourney. Prior to his stint at Purdue, Thrash spent two seasons as the head coach at the College of Southern Idaho, where his 46-16 cumulative record included a 28-4 season and a Scenic West Conference Championship in 1997-98. From 1977-83, Thrash was an assistant coach at Fresno State University, where he coached Bobcats General Manager Rod Higgins. During Thrash’s time there, the Bulldogs were 133-42 and won three conference championships and the 1983 NIT title. The team recorded three straight seasons with at least 25 wins from 1980-83, including a 27-3 season in 1981-82 in which they went to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Thrash also spent three years as head coach at Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, posting a record of 66-16. A native of Farina, Illinois, Thrash played two seasons at Thornton Junior College in Harvey, Illinois. He went on to Eastern New Mexico University, where his teams posted a record of 49-8 over two seasons and played in the NAIA national championship game before he graduated with honors in 1969. Thrash and his wife, Denise, have two sons, Jason and Mark.

Steve Stricker Head Athletic Trainer Steve Stricker is in his third season with the Bobcats as head athletic trainer, where he monitors the medical needs of the Bobcats players and also manages the team’s travel needs. Stricker brings over 20 years of experience to the Bobcats in a career that includes stops with the Washington Wizards, University of Michigan, University of Texas-Arlington and Iowa State University. Stricker began his career at his alma mater, Iowa State, where he served as both a student trainer and assistant athletic trainer while earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He went on to serve as head athletic trainer at UT-Arlington from 1993-95 before moving on to Michigan, where he held the positions of assistant athletic trainer and associate supervisor of athletic medicine. In 2001, Stricker joined the Wizards, serving as the team’s athletic trainer for three seasons. Most recently he served as marketing manager for team sports at Gatorade, handling all contracted college and professional teams in the Central and Northeast regions of the United States. Stricker is a Certified Athletic Trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. He and his wife, Pam, have two children, Jonathan and Samantha. Michael Irr Strength & Conditioning Coach Michael Irr enters his third season with the Bobcats as strength and conditioning coach, after spending the previous two seasons as assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Chicago Bulls. Irr is responsible for the strength, speed, power, conditioning and nutrition of Bobcats players and assists with the rehabilitation of injuries. Irr is a 2006 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he majored in exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning. While at UConn, he served as a student assistant in the strength and conditioning department, assisting with teams including men’s and women’s basketball. He also spent the summer of 2005 working in the strength and conditioning department at Holy Cross, where he assisted both college and high school athletes. In addition, he was awarded a scholarship for being the top strength and conditioning student in his class upon his graduation from UConn. Irr is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dennis Williams Assistant Athletic Trainer Dennis Williams is in his fifth season as the Bobcats’ assistant athletic trainer, where he assists with the team’s medical needs.
