team of professors, researchers, and students,

Intellectual Property
Clear ownership of intellectual property is
important. Prior to the start of each project, we
will make dedicated contract arrangements with
you with regard to the ownership and use of any IP.
Publication Rights
Even when performing research for industry, the
university still needs to fulfill its duty to publish.
But we are acutely aware, at the same time, of
the need to protect your company’s competitive
position. The content and moment of publication,
therefore, can always be discussed.

There are several possible modes of cooperation, some of which are outlined in this

Contract Research
TU/e is home to highly skilled researchers who
can help you take R&D at your company to the
next level.
Contract research allows you to define dedicated
research projects to be executed by top researchers
at our university. By outsourcing some or all
of your R&D activities, you will not only boost
your company’s innovation potential, but also
reduce the costs and risks associated with R&D.
Examples of innovations that have already
resulted from such projects include new suspension
systems for trucks (DAF), enhanced 3D TV
processing (Philips), and silicon solar cells with a
better financial return (OTB Solar).
Industrial Partnering
Scholarship Students
With an investment in the Amandus Lundqvist
Scholarship Program (ALSP), you get access to
(international) top talented staff selected and
educated by TU/e. The program includes an
opportunity for you to meet with students at a
match-making event and find the right fit for your
company. After they graduate, students are obliged
to work for your company for 3 consecutive years.
Internships / Graduating Students
One of your first direct links to the university can
also be through students still studying. They can
support you in solving technological problems
through a variety of bachelor’s and master’s
projects, which run from several weeks to several
months. These projects are generally arranged as
part of ongoing industrial collaborations.
Moreover, bringing students in-house for such
projects can be a structural part of your
recruitment activities.
Other Activities
There are several other ways to connect with the
Eindhoven University of Technology to your
advantage. Symposia and conferences are held
throughout the year, where you can engage in
science and get up to speed on where technology
is headed. The university, after all, has the kinds
of state-of-the-art facilities that might currently
be out of your reach. And it offers companies the
use of these facilities, including, if necessary, the
assistance of skilled operating personnel.
Solving Practical Industrial Problems
In addition to performing basic research, TU/e
also solves very practical industrial problems.
Of course, the fundamental knowledge we possess
might not always be ready for direct application at
your company. That is why the university has semiindependent
service companies operating within
its academic departments. These companies have
direct access to our high-end technology and
researchers, and it is their core business to translate
basic science into custom-made solutions.
This is done through its Professional Doctorate in
Engineering (PDEng) programs. PDEngs are highly
skilled, top-tier engineers who use the science
available at the university to solve complex
technological problems in your company.
PDEngs are able to design and engineer technological
solutions and bring them to proof of
concept. Our PDEngs have already found a way
to convert heat loss into heat gain for Essent,
designed a new packaging system for NXP and a
supply chain model for DSM.
