<strong>IQF</strong> STATIC PLATE FREEZER<br />
<strong>IQF</strong> plate freezers (Individual Quick Freezing)<br />
combine the advantages <strong>of</strong> the individual<br />
processing, required for certain<br />
products, and those <strong>of</strong> direct contact<br />
freezing:<br />
Saving<br />
Given the simplicity <strong>of</strong> its design, the <strong>IQF</strong><br />
plate freezer requires minimum initial<br />
investment and energy consumption.<br />
Besides this, <strong>Tucal</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers as an alternative<br />
the compact configuration (freezer connected<br />
to the corresponding refrigeration<br />
equipment), so that the installation on site<br />
is very easy and economical.<br />
Continuous operating regime<br />
<strong>IQF</strong> freezers have static plates (without<br />
movement), like shelves. The distance<br />
between plates is calculated for an easy<br />
and continuous operation, so that it is possible<br />
to coordinate production and freezing.<br />
Quick freezing<br />
Besides the fastness <strong>of</strong> direct contact<br />
freezing itself, the <strong>IQF</strong> plate freezer adds<br />
the possibility <strong>of</strong> working in continuous<br />
regime with the plates at temperatures<br />
between –35° C and –40°C. The freezing<br />
process begins thus at the precise moment<br />
that the product is laid over the plate.<br />
Product quality<br />
The product is kept in optimum conditions<br />
thanks to a freezing method that combines<br />
individual treatment (<strong>IQF</strong>) and direct contact,<br />
which avoids the dehydration and<br />
losses caused by the mediation <strong>of</strong> air.
DESCRIPTION OF THE <strong>IQF</strong> STATIC FREEZER<br />
As it happens in traditional plate freezers (horizontal and vertical<br />
type), the freezing in the <strong>IQF</strong> plate freezer is achieved by direct<br />
contact <strong>of</strong> the product with the plates, inside which the refrigerant<br />
is circulating at a low temperature. In this case, the <strong>IQF</strong> static<br />
freezer has a fixed plate distance, which is defined at an initial<br />
stage <strong>of</strong> the project according to the product size and cannot be<br />
modified once the freezer is built. This distance is calculated to be<br />
able to carry out the loading and unloading operations very easily<br />
(there is a margin between the product and the plate above).<br />
Trays can be loaded without stop, with plates at working temperature<br />
(the evaporation temperature is normally between –35°C<br />
and –40°C).<br />
The product is loaded inside 600 mm trays which have a handle<br />
(the tray length coincides with the plate width), so that the operator<br />
can easily reach the entire useful surface. The cycle time will<br />
depend on variables such as product, refrigeration equipment or<br />
the loading method, and therefore it must be defined according to<br />
the real working conditions. In any case, it is minimum compared<br />
to traditional <strong>IQF</strong> systems (by forced air), as the product is frozen<br />
by direct contact with the plate.<br />
The loading and unloading operations are done simultaneously,<br />
replacing the frozen product with fresh product immediately. The<br />
only interruption to this process is the defrosting: its periodicity will<br />
depend on the environmental conditions, product, etc. but, in any<br />
case, it will be very fast thanks to an extremely short circuit.<br />
<strong>IQF</strong> compact plate freezer (the whole formed by freezer<br />
and refrigeration equipment is supplied with all the refrigerating<br />
and electrical connections).<br />
