The Company<br />
Istituto Superiore Mario Boella (ISMB) was founded in July 2000 by Politecnico di Torino and<br />
tCompagnia di San Paolo. ordinary members of ISMB areMotorola, SKF, ST Microelectronics, Telecom<br />
<strong>Italia</strong> Lab (TILAB). ISMB carries on research activities in the following innovative laboratories:<br />
Photonics, Antennas and Electromagnetic Compatibility, Networking, e-Security, Radio Mobile and<br />
Multimedia, Applications and Services. ISMB is also committed in the field of higher education and<br />
particularly it studies the intersection between technology and social innovation.<br />
ISMB mission is to foster research and higher education, aiming at building an international centre of<br />
excellence in the ICT sector, focused particularly on wireless and e-Security. According to its mission,<br />
ISMB promoted Torino Wireless District and it is one of its founding members.<br />

From 2002 a particular emphasis has been directed towards wireless technologies and e-security.<br />
ISMB is also involved in several European Projects on ITS , as ETNITE (European Transnational<br />
Network for ITS Training and Education) and GST (Global System for Telematics).<br />
ISMB has been also part of the technical/scientific work group involved in the Committee for the<br />
Promotion of the Galileo Programme composed by Piemonte Region, Province of Turin, City of Turin,<br />
Turin Chamber of Commerce and Finpiemonte SpA, with the aim of designing a timing facility<br />
