Elasis The Company Founded in 1988 as a Fiat Group initiative, ELASIS is a joint stock consortium involving several entities with the same objectives. ELASIS was founded and has developed its skills as a centre for advanced applied engineering in the car industry. It therefore performs research, design and experimentation of products and processes for areas in which consortium members operate. In these sectors it is a centre par excellence at international level. The ELASIS strong point is its capacity to integrate advanced design techniques, prototyping and experimentation (virtual and physical). This know-how is applied to a wide spectrum of production fields. ELASIS skills and methodologies are also applied in many other fields of research and activity, linked to improving mobility systems and sustaining territorial development ITS Expertise & Solutions Elasis designs and develops new technologies applied to mobility and systems supporting a decision on the subject of traffic and transport. In particular, the Elasis expertise in the ITS fields is focused on: Info and reporting systems for traffic data management New type of traffic sensors New techniques concerning traffic forecast New control technology on crossings (adaptive control system on traffic lights) Elasis has also developed skills and competencies in road safety, especially as regards: Multidisciplinary analysis of road accidents Creation of data bank regarding accidents incidence and its outcomes Settlement of the procedures for the reckon of statistical markers Settlement of the procedures for spot and the map of the accidents Development of methods evaluating the efficiency of dif-ferent devices in terms of safety Training for remarks, monitoring and analysis of accidents incidence References: Head office: Via Ex Aeroporto s.n. ITS Expertise & Solutions ENEA carries out R&D activities aimed at developing innovative software models for real-time traffic analysis and prediction and the analysis and forecast of the environmental impacts due to traffic flow. One of the software tools conceived by ENEA is MERLNO, that is also able to evaluate long term air quality on the network and to assess the impacts of different traffic control strategies, the estimation of the current state of a transport network and prediction of the traffic state evolution by combining real-time traffic data with historical data collected and processed every day, early detection of traffic flows anomalies and short-term predictions of traffic congestion situations on the transport network.
