5.2.2 For records be<strong>in</strong>g held at <strong>the</strong> State <strong>Records</strong> Center<br />

Staff of <strong>the</strong> State <strong>Records</strong> Center will notify <strong>the</strong> House or <strong>the</strong> Senate records management<br />

officer when <strong>the</strong> records have fulfilled <strong>the</strong>ir storage retention and are eligible for f<strong>in</strong>al<br />

disposition. Once disposition is approved and <strong>the</strong> records are archival, <strong>the</strong>y will be<br />

transferred to <strong>the</strong> State <strong>Archives</strong>.<br />

Quick rem<strong>in</strong>ders for pack<strong>in</strong>g boxes<br />

Do NOT <strong>in</strong>clude hang<strong>in</strong>g files – <strong>the</strong>y take up a lot<br />

of space, don't fit correctly, and make stack<strong>in</strong>g<br />

boxes impossible.<br />

Place all loose records <strong>in</strong> a labeled file folder.<br />

Put LEGAL and LETTER folders fac<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> long<br />

side of <strong>the</strong> box – it makes <strong>the</strong> boxes lighter and<br />

allows use of <strong>the</strong> handles.<br />

Don't OVERFILL or UNDERFILL boxes.<br />

Don't tape <strong>the</strong> boxes.<br />

All of <strong>the</strong>se measures reduce waste and <strong>in</strong>crease<br />

efficiency.<br />
