When we send you out into the
snow, we want to be sure that you
can enjoy it untroubled. In this
situation, the Colorado‘s climate
chamber is exposed to minus
temperatures, not what we wish
for you on your winter holiday.
Before a Karmann Mobil receives a quality standard seal, it must pass countless
tests and a variety of inspections. However, sometimes we use rather unusual
methods. To test the resilience of the chassis and body and test the high finishing
standards, speed and braking tests were carried out with a 300 horsepower „Colorado
Boliden“ on the Nürburg Ring and the Lausitz Ring. The concept car‘s frame,
body and brakes were the same as used in the standard series. And all just to test
the components under a strain that you would never put your Karmann Mobil
under. But it is comforting to know that you could do so.

The first time you go on holiday in your new Karmann
Mobil, we should be able to sit back and relax. After
all we have contributed to making sure that your
journey will be a pleasure. There is a reason that we
aren‘t the ones going on holiday: we are already
thinking about how you could travel in the future.

However, our developers‘ and design engineers‘
ambition was to set new standards in design and driving
performance with the second generation of Colorados.
The Colorado clearly demonstrates how a Karmann
Mobil arises from vision of what a motorhome should
be and a consistent realisation of our ideas of evolution
and innovation.
Its legendary predecessor, the Colorado 1, designed
based on the Volkswagen T4, set very high standards.
For many motorhome owners the first Colorado is
still the ultimate motorhome, having set benchmarks
in quality, design and driving performance. Naturally
people wanted the successor to be a motorhome
that, like the Colorado 1, combines compact exterior
dimensions with dynamic driving performance, all in
one fascinating design.
To cut a long story short, we have obviously succeeded
in keeping the new Colorado model extremely
compact. The Colorado 600 with alcoves has a height
of only 2.88 m and compact dimensions and can thus

Not all paths lead to the goal when you want to be
the best. It soon became apparent that our developers‘
demands for dynamics, driving comfort and additional
load requirements could not be met with the conventional
chassis. Therefore an AL-KO wide wheel-based
low frame chassis, exclusively used in the Volkswagen
T5 3.5 t class, was specially developed for the Colorado
to offer the best in driving comfort, relaxed travelling
and the necessary added safety in precarious situations.

We don‘t just want to build good motorhomes, but
also attractive ones. Because we believe that a good
motorhome alone is not enough for you. Because we
know that Karmann motorhome owners also care about

the outside. And because you think that functionality
and good design go hand in hand. It‘s great that we

We‘ve been making motorhomes according to this
principle for years. The new Colorado is not the first
motorhome to include our high design standards, but
its design has re-defined the style of all new Karmann
motorhomes. Smooth, curved shapes create a sharp,
clear contour which combines balanced harmony
with cutting-edge dynamics.
When you take a trip in your Karmann motorhome
- whichever model - you can be sure that its unique
appearance will turn heads. This is a side effect that
simply can‘t be avoided. And despite all this individuality,
it is nice to know that there are others
who share our passion for good design.

The new Colorado –
more than just a new face.
The pictures show partly unavailable, model-specific special accessories of the basic vehicle manufacturer.
The new generation of Colorados is immediately
recognisable by its completely modified front. The
new, larger headlights tapering sharply inwards and
the sporty radiator grill with black cross-members
give the Colorado its distinctive look. But the new
Colorado offers more than glamorous outfit:
A milestone in the technical development are the
high-torque engines with up to 132 kW (180 HP)
and soot particle filter. What is gratifying is that the
common-rail turbodiesel technology cuts consumption
and CO2 emissions substantially. And even more
gratifying: all engines satisfy the Euro-5 exhaust
standard. The optional 7-gear double clutch gearbox
(DSG), which is a world first in this class, combines
the reduction of consumption with the perfect
comfort of an automatic transmission.
Safety has always been an overriding feature of
the Colorado. The AL-KO wide track, low-chassis
developed exclusively for the Colorado not only
provides outstanding driving comfort, but it
also meets the special requirements with
respect to the loading of caravans. The newly
designed fog lamp, which now serves
in addition as a static cornering light (option), provides an
enhanced overview on curve. The styling of the bodywork is
given new enhancement by the white skirtings, the dark-tone
bodywork windows and the side decoration in brown-metallic.

We don‘t want you to sleep right through your
holiday. But if it does happen, don‘t say we didn‘t
warn you. The double bed that stretches from one
side of the new Colorado 645 TI to the other provides
or relaxation and a good night‘s sleep. Because,
like all Colorados, it is fitted with a top quality,
comfortable cold foam mattresses.
Hopefully you have already become familiar with
the other important highlights in the 645 TI before
going to bed. If not then you don‘t know that
the Colorado 645 TI is a true storage star. With a
spacious bicycle storage area under the bed that
can be height-adjusted if needed. And you probably
missed the classy, chrome-finished furniture flaps,
the energy efficient LED spotlights and the new
ivory coloured light shades. That would be a shame.
So, quick, wake up!

the Colorado‘s dynamic character is apparent right
away. Its perfect combination of style and comfort

True greatness is not measured in meters. Three of
the eight Ontario models are shorter than 6 meters:
the Ontario 580 and 600 and the Ontario 585 TI.

This is how nice it is to sleep up top. The Ontario has one of the largest
alcoves in its class. When not in use the base can be folded away.
Let‘s think practically
for a moment.
Naturally we love beautiful design and luxurious
furnishings in the Ontario - and we would be happy
if you do too. But there are also certain things that
you don‘t see right away, but that affect the value of
a motorhome even after many years. For example,
the rot resistant, wood-free walls and floors in the
bodywork. Karmann Mobil has been combining GRP
sandwich walls with aluminium frames as standard
for over fifteen years. This is another reason why
Karmann Mobil motorhomes are a symbol of quality
and longevity.
For those who want to make something more than a snack appreciate
a comfortable kitchen. In the Ontario TI, even gourmets are happy.

The young savage.
A weekend in the hills with the Davis. Pack everything
quickly and check out Europe‘s best kept
secrets. A Davis is as uncomplicated and vivacious
as its owner. The Davis is your individual van for a
sporty start in the world of Karmann Mobil.
With compact dimensions and designed with the
highest attention to detail, the Davis will turn heads
with its side skirts and metallic silver paintwork. And
what about the interior specifications? The Davis is
a real „team player“, agile, cutting edge and always
reliable. In short, a moving problem free package
with air conditioning, two airbags, ABS, cruise control,
carpets and reading lights. Compact doesn‘t mean
spartan. In other words, typically Karmann Mobil.
